This Week I Love …

… my Amopé Pedi Perfect Electronic Pedicure Foot File.

You guys know so much gross stuff about me already, I figure why not throw another one onto the fire? I get SERIOUS calluses during the summer months. Big, hard, yellow suckers that no bath soak will soften and no amount of nightly lotion-application will cure. A couple of years ago, I walked away from a pedicure with one of these foot files, and used it until it absolutely fell apart. It was only mildly effective anyway, so when I heard about the gadget pictured above, I was more than a little intrigued.

As you can probably imagine, you turn it on, run it over your foot calluses, your heels, anywhere that’s got a buildup of hardened skin, and it grinds that stuff down quite nicely. This is a fast-moving rotor head, so be very careful not to apply it to un-callused skin or you’re gonna be in a world of hurt. But I never feel a thing when using it on the hard stuff.

You definitely need to pair your Amopé Pedi Foot File with a routine of f00t care that includes moisturizers; It won’t give you smooth, soft feet all on its own. But man, it sure helps.

Anyone else tried this gadget? Thoughts? Other options to share for summertime callus care?

I’ve used one for a couple of months now, and you are right –it works best when you pair it with moisturizers, plus you need to use it regularly. I have one callus that gets very painful when not pared down. Now that I use the Amope I never have to get out the (dangerous) callus shaver.

Friend who has one of these was unhappy when she found her young son (he’s six) using it to “sand” the dining room table. LOL. FWIW, I used to have terrible callus problems (cracked and splitting heels) and one day by chance noticed on a health site that cracked heels that never seem to clear no matter how much you moisturize could be a foot fungus similar to athlete’s foot. Icky! So on a whim, I tried an athlete’s foot product (like Lotrimin AF but the Walgreen’s version) and amazingly, it cleared up in about a week’s time. So if the snaggy heels keep coming back even with the filing, you might try this.

Have you tried BabyFoot? The calluses will come back over time but it does a great job of getting you to a baseline that you can try to maintain.

I haven’t! Besides the manual foot file, this is the first product I’ve really investigated for foot calluses. I’ll check it out!

When I first saw this advertised, all I could think was that it was a belt sander for your feet. LOL Cracks me up every time. 😀

I keep a pumice stone in the shower for a quick scrub-down of heels and soles every day, and apply moisturizer and put on socks at night for a couple hours.
