You locals will know that we had our first snow of the season this week. Weeelllll, here’s the thing. I’ve got a backlog of fall outfits AND I am still fighting off a wicked stomach flu that took me out on Friday. (This after four weeks of a cough and five weeks of a cold. BAH!) So we have this recent but not immediate outfit of black upon black.

The cardigan is one of a small but growing group of items featuring gold hardware. Still a silver girl at heart, but black and gold sure do look fresh together. I love the off-kilter shape of this sweater, too, and the way the zippers almost match up … but not quite.

The cardigan is fabulous. I think it does something slightly odd visually by cutting you horizontally into three elements. I wondered if that was a problem and then thought, what the hell – it’s so gorgeous it doesn’t matter. What people will see and you will enjoy are those fantastic zips. Interesting that something can be so ‘statement’ in black. It is like the daytime, outdoor version of a little black dress. I do like knits and boiled wool as well for autumn/ spring but find them hard to wear often. If it is mild, it tends to be wet. If it is sunny it is probably too cold. London weather for you!

Looking gorgeous and chic as always, Sally! I think the cardi looks very smart on you and the gold looks so elegant against the black.
I hope you feel better soon and the snows hold off a bit longer! We’ve been having an unseasonably warm autumn in Edinburgh — some days we’re warmer than Atlanta!
