Bright White and Fall Jewel Tones

High contrast bag by Rovimoss

I bought this bag as a way to add contrast to fall or winter outfits that are full of dark jewel tones or muted neutrals. I love the look of  bright white, and the fact that the bottom of the bag is gray is an added bonus because it isn’t as prone to showing scuffs and dirt that accumulate from setting it down. The bag was especially useful when my dark navy jacket was added to the outfit. The oversized scarf added a good dose of pattern and helped tie the fuchsia top to the midnight blue pants.

I’ve only recently come around to the look of smoking slippers, although I sort of suspected from the time the trend first hit that the right pair would eventually come along and turn my head. This pair is well suited to my foot issues: they have a nice amount of cushioning, a flat heel, and plenty of room around the toes, but the leopard print makes them eye catching and stylish. Here, they add a subtle bit of pattern mixing and break up the solid bottom half of the outfit. One thing I like about this style is that it keeps the top of my feet a bit more covered, making the shoes a nice option for cooler fall days.

How does that top work? Is it a fuchsia shell over a navy shirt? I’m looking for a top over sized top to wear with skinny pants/leggings that doesn’t emphasize my 5’1″ frame.

There are actually 2 tops there — a basic 3/4 sleeve navy t-shirt and then the chiffon, layered fushcia affair, which is a drapey shell with a scarf-like layer over it. That top is tricky; it almost overwhelms me and I’m 5’8″. I’d suggest looking for something that has a cropped upper layer and a longer layer that’s just a bit more fitted. A quick search found this one, which is sold out but will give you and idea of what I mean: http://www.oasap.com/blouses/31398-ruffled-layer-chiffon-blouse.html. Something with that basic shape would look fantastic on a petite frame.

Love the outfit, but the handbag looks too summery for me for fall.. I think any purse with any true white is really just for summer…but thats just me.
