We talked swobes recently. I think it’s safe to say that this is the One Swobe to Rule Them All. Heavy, cozy pure British wool done up in amazing cables? Yes please. This sweater coat will join with my Icelandic tunic as one of the few items of clothing I own that can stand up to subzero temps. Though, as you can see, worn open it works beautifully in warmer weather, too. I loved pairing it with skinny faux leather pants for a fun juxtaposition.

But what about the rain? don’t you get rain? I would be so nervous about going out in something like this because I would be sure it might rain at sometime in the day and then I would be walking round in pounds of wet bedraggled ruined wool.
See reply to Greetje!
I so much love this boots…

Oh, it’s fantastic. And those pants. I love this whole look so much!
It is a beautiful coat, really fantastic. Never seen anything like it. Now you can be warm and stylish. A rare combination. But I do have the same question as Ruth. What about sudden rainor snow? Do you carry a plastic Mac with you to go over this coat when it rains?

Hi gals! “Sweater coat” isn’t a literal description. I have a knee-length down coat that gets worn over this when I’m outside. It’s far too lightweight to be a winter coat where I live. Hope that helps.
Ah… Got it. I was puzzled…
Here’s a question for Sally or anyone who wears sweater coats. Does your coat pill around the butt/thigh region due to sitting on surfaces? What about snagging? I have these issues with long cardigans and sweater dresses, and therefore haven’t taken the plunge with a sweater coat for fear of ruining it too soon.
Does that “swobe” run pretty true to size? I am so tempted and if I bite, I’ll click thru from here so you get the credit. Thanks.
Thanks, Nebraskim! I would say it runs a bit big. I got a unisex medium and it works but is a bit roomy. The size charts are accurate, but since this is a thick knit made from heavy wool it naturally stretches a bit. Hope that helps!
Sally,
How did I miss this in their catalog? This is a wonderful garment. I am so tempted to purchase one also. But I have talked to you about my sweater addiction. I have to draw the line somewhere. I don’t need a sweater coat but my goodness it is hard to resist!
Oohhh they have navy and burgundy too. It’s a good thing they don’t have a forest green or I would be lost.
One other thing. You have a perfect, gorgeous profile. A face right out of a Renaissance painting.
