I still can’t quite believe I paid full price for this scarf at Anthro. I NEVER do that. But it was my birthday weekend, and I found the rich, multicolored, Deco-influenced pattern irresistible. And it certainly brightened up this ensemble.

Patterned tunic, Len Druskin – similar print

Bib necklace, an art fair I think – similar (kinda)

I wore this to my monthly craft group. I feel like many of the outfits I wear to attend that group fail somehow, and was really happy with how this one turned out.

I would love those Frye Matilda boots – too bad DNA footwear doesn’t allow exchanges (in case the size isn’t right…) Great looks!

  2. Melissa

I love those dress hoodies so much on you that I immediately clicked on the link and ordered me one 🙂 I can’t wait to get it and style it up myself!

    • Sal

Melissa, you’ll ADORE it. I’m pretty well convinced it’s the perfect garment.

      • Katharine

I love them too. Sal, would you mind sharing what size you wear in them? I think I’m just a bit larger than you are, but the size guide (as usual) is vague-ish, the pictures look like it’s baggy on the model, and there aren’t many sizes left, either. I’m usually either a Medium or a Large in this kinda thing, but it could go either way depending how snug the shoulders and back are cut…

Lovely outfits as usual. What kind of knot did you use on the Echo Designs scarf? Thanks.

    • Sal

Basically, I looped the scarf around my neck once, then again and tied a half-knot loosely at the base of my throat. Not sure if it has a name, but I use that knot a lot with longer scarves!

  4. Heather

OK, so I broke down and ordered that hoodie dress as I love it! I wasn’t sure on the sizing though… I went with a large as I’m typically an 8/10 and busty. Do you think a large will work for me?

    I love your site, too!

    • Sal

Yay! I think the Large will work, Heather. I’m an 8 myself and wear a medium in this garment, but am decidedly un-busty. Did you order from Tobi? They have a decent return/exchange policy if so …

      • Heather

Oh good! Yeah, I am always concerned about the fit there so I have to size up sometimes. I won’t be swimming in it at the waist then, I hope?

I did order from Tobi and they are great at customer service. Usually I use their live chat to ask about sizing but they don’t have it on today. I did send them a separate email to see if I ordered the correct size. I can always send it back if need be.

I loved all of these outfits, you look wonderful!

Where I am at, spring has hit and we will have warm to hot weather till November/December… so I envy you still having a bit of snow, and use for boots and all of those long sleeved stuff…

  6. Megan Mae

I adore the hoodie dress. I actually can’t decide if I like the red or pale plum better. Fabulous looks as always.

  7. Lauren

I LOVE the Frye Veronica Slouch boots. I imagine they are perfect, but one review I read said the upper buckle sort of got in the way when crossing her legs. Do you love them? Probably worth ordering and trying them, but I would love to hear your thoughts? Thanks!

    • Sal

Hey Lauren, I own two pairs of Frye Veronica Slouch boots, and I really do love them. That upper buckle can be a bit problematic if you’re wearing tights and crossing your legs, that’s true. I generally wear mine with leggings so I don’t encounter that much, but have another pair of boots with a top buckle and have snagged many a pair of tights on THOSE! That said, the Veronicas are super comfy, well-made, and just gorgeous. You should totally keep an eye on 6pm and eBay. The boots may be $350 full price, but I snagged both of my pairs for under $100. 😉

Those hoodie dresses are utterly adorable, though I think wearing them every day of your life might be problematic what with the sticky hot Minnesota summers. That dusty pink one is going to go with about a million things in your closet; definitely a good purchase!

I love that Anthro scarf SO much- out of my budget, but I’ll be stalking it like crazy. You have such a great wardrobe, but I have to say, part of your stylishness is your smile and the twinkle in your eyes. You just always look so full of joy!

And craft night- that sounds like tons of fun. Could you tell us more about it?

  10. Melanie

They now makes a waterproof version of the hoodie for those in the wet climates. Super cute, you wear it well!

  11. Courtney

The Talbots boots are on sale again today – $65 plus tax and shipping. 🙂 I didn’t get them the last time they were that cheap and balked at paying more later on, but I’m so glad they’re on their way!

I heart the scarf – nearly bought it for myself at Anthro a few months ago (in a pinker version, iirc) but am hoping somehow magically it goes on sale.

    What cute outfits!

  12. Mistie

I love that scarf! All three of the outfits are great, but that scarf makes me swoon!

  13. Ellie

I have a question for everyone about scarves:

To me, scarves are woolen things you wear outdoors for warmth. So, these cottony/chiffony thin scarves (like in the photo above) – what do you do with them during the day? Do you take them off when you go indoors, along with your coat, or do you continue to wear them in the office?

My new office is very cold, so I’m thinking about adding scarves to my work outfits. However I’m not noticing other people doing this, so is there some sort of scarf ettiquette I need to know about!?!

(I’d be interested on hearing from anyone about this, but I’m in the UK, in case anyone else is British/Northern Irish, and can comment about the scarf culture in their workplace.)

    • Sal

Hey Ellie, Can’t comment from the British standpoint, but I leave my fashion/decorative scarves on all day. They’re an accessory to me, same as a belt or jewelry!

  14. GingerR

I think people too often cheap-out on scarves.

If you are a scarf person you will get value from scarves that are the right shape/color/fabric, and it’s worth it to pay full-price for them.

It pains me to see posts from people who’ve put great outfits together and then top it off with a scarf from Target that doesn’t match the quality of the other items they’ve got on.

Since they’re an item where the material and color really are the focus it’s a mistake to buy something that isn’t wonderful on close inspection.

  15. Anat

I’m from Israel, it’s never really cold here, but we are all scarf-crazy this winter, even when it’s 20 degrees celcius outside.

Same as Sal, I consider them an accessory, and unless it gets really hot in my office, I won’t take them off ever. Scarves are part of the fashion choices I make every morning, so it’s part of the outfit.

  16. Ellen

I just wanted to pop in and say I LOVE that first outfit!!! This is such my style, classy and put together with a pop of color. Plus, you just look absolutely wonderful in it!
The last outfit is also so cute on you!

  17. Ellie

Thanks for all the advice on scarf wearing. It’s suddenly got warm here, but I’ll still be investing in some.
