Casual Outfit Roundup: Week of November 13

Already Pretty outfit featuring Karen Kane sweater coat, sparkle leggings, Frye Harness 12R, The Leather Store red leather backpack

Shiny leggings, Nordstrom Rack I think – similar
Boots, Frye Harness 12R
Backpack, The Leather Store
Dichroic glass studs, art fair – similar
Necklace, thrifted – similar

I’m not gonna lie to you: This sweater coat sheds. I tried putting it in the dryer (dry, of course) to get some of the fuzz off. Helped, but didn’t solve it. Reader Kathy suggested placing mohair items in plastic bags in the freezer overnight, then shaking them out. Just need to clear out the freezer … anyway, despite the shedding, I love it. Cozy, engulfing, and such fun with a few Western accents

Scarf, Echo Designs via Anthropologie – similar pattern
Gray leather moto, thrifted – similar
Striped dress, thrifted – similar
Earrings, thrifted – similar
Bag, Foley + Corinna Mid City Tote via eBay
Boots, BCBGeneration Doris (no longer available) – similar

Saturday was downright balmy, so I happily went bare-legged. This dress was thrifted ages ago but will likely get more love now due to my stripy obsession. The jacket was a major thrift score, too. I’d wanted a gray leather moto for ages, but couldn’t justify any of the versions I saw online. This perfectly-fitting one at $9.99? Justified.

I love that Saturday outfit! My grandfather has always been fond of stripes, and I think perhaps I developed his same soft spot. I’m a fan of the navy+cognac combo.

You are the thrifting Queen! I’m inspired now, especially after reading of your gray jacket score.

    Great outfits!

Ooo you’re given me new inspiration on a color combination for my brown boots! I never would have thought to pair them with a lighter gray like that.

I love the second outfit- it’s very flattering and I love the very covered up neck vs. hit of leg.

The sweater coat though looks bigger than you! I like the pattern, but not the cut or lack of body shape.

Sally, if possible please let us know what you think of your cute backpack! I’ve looked at The Leather Store bags many times but have yet to buy one…what is it like in person?

You bet! It’s a great bag – I should’ve done more detail shots, sorry. The zipper attaches to the bag body with a magnet, which is such a slick feature. Then the top unzips into two flaps. It’s a wee bit awkward for rummaging around – not my easiest access bag, for sure – but definitely do-able. I wouldn’t recommend this bag for, say, a high school student who needs to cart around 4 huge textbooks at a time, but a college student who can swap out books at home or a woman who just wants to use it as a purse will find ample room. The bag is very well made from leather that is soft and supple, but doesn’t mark up easily. The inside is lined with cotton. Definitely a top-notch bag, and the gal who runs the Leather Store is just lovely to work with.

Reader Beth beat me to my question (thank you, Beth!) – thank you for the elaboration, Sally! I’ve been thinking about trying to move more towards individually handmade bags as opposed to mass-produced ones (I’m doing the same with jewelry), and have been looking for a place to buy. I checked out The Leather Store link, and the bags seem really lovely. I might add one to my Christmas wishlist. 🙂

I’ve been eyeing up those leather store rucksacks, I really want one in yellow! Unfortunately by ag drawer is full, so I’d have to part with something else instead, which I’m not sure I’m quite ready to do yet.

    Also, bare legs! wow!

I really adore the color combo of the gray jacket, brown boots, and olive bag. That jacket is to die for lovely.

This has got to be my favorite outfit of yours! Congrats on the awesome thrift scores!
