And I know I’m not alone in loving her.

Most of the streetstyle swirl that accompanies the various Fashion Weeks bores me to tears, showcasing stuff that’s so expensive and over-the-top that no mere mortal could sport it. And the more subdued, normalish stuff is all black. Black, black, black, a little bit of gray to mix things up, and yet more black.

But a year or so ago I happened upon some photos of Elisa and absolutely swooned. Can you guess why? Yep, COLOR. Girlfriend is fearless in the color department, but also extremely skillful. She never looks like a bag of Skittles, but instead selects and groups her colors with grace and flair. read more

Neutral-wearing advice for people who LOVE color

Reader Beth e-mailed me this question:

Sometimes–other than a collection of black pants—I feel like I buy too MUCH color. I just don’t feel drawn to neutrals. I am not afraid to mix color, but sometimes I think I’d like more neutrals in my wardrobe but they don’t appeal to me. I know I would it would make many more outfit options available to me.

… cobalt blue. Above you see my beloved Marni sandals. I purchased these last year, and they sparked an obsession with cobalt blue that hasn’t flagged since. I am now in possession of a cobalt handbag, belt and necklace, all purchased separately yet eerily matchy. And my thirst for cobalt is not yet slaked! Especially since I am yet to nab any cobalt blue garments. (Picture me rubbing my hands like a supervillian.)
