Black ribbon as sash, no idea
Black pumps, Tsubo Acrea
Black flower brooch, I think I stole it from my gran
Black bracelet, Karin Jacobson
This outfit was totally not the plan. I packed my bag last night, hoping to bike to work today, and was foiled by thunderstorms. (I’m a wimp when it comes to rain-biking.) But I wanted to save my pre-packed outfit for a day when I actually COULD bike.
Then I thought I should wear tall boots since it’s wet out AND it’s that time in the leg-shaving cycle. So I put this together planning to wear it with boots … but it looked atrocious. I’m still being pretty cautious with my heels right now, and since my Acreas have proven themselves protruding-disc-safe, I reached for ’em.
I do love that the Liberty prints are often outlined in black, which means you can do tons of black accents. But I’d rather have gone for color …
Aaaaaaand I feel like I should probably give you all a quarter for listening to that incredibly detailed yet decidedly dull outfit tale.
Well, for being an outfit that wasn't planned, it sure is cute. I love the black ribbon as a belt!
We had a very similar color scheme going on today, by the way.
It's not dull! Plus I know I do similar ramblings. I think it's fun to know how an outfit comes to be "born"!
What a cute print on your dress!!
I'm totally with you on how awesome it is that the Liberty prints are outlined in black. It gives a distinct depth to the pattern.
And I LOVE how you and La Historiadora de Moda totally matched today!
I love hearing how outfits come together – keep on spilling!
Great dress! Now I am kind of wishing I had gotten some of the LoL dresses…too much to buy too little $$!
Love the outfit! And the last time you wore them, you inspired me to buy my own pair of black Acrea mary janes. OMG I love them so much. So thanks!
I love it! Love the ribbon belt, and I love the black accessories with the dress. I totally fell for the Liberty for Talbots things.
Oh, yum from head to toe! Love the whole thing.LOVE.
I really like how the cropped jacket hits just at the same spot as the ribbon. Also, you're making me want a pair of these shoes.
I love this so much that I am totally riffing on this outfit tomorrow. Same dress with a cropped swingy black sweater and a belt.
See, I like hearing the details of how an outfit comes together – even what you might consider the boring bits. It's an interesting insight on how someone starts their day!
Plus, I totally WANT all the Liberty of London prints at Target. WANT.
Sometimes spur of the moment things can work out in your favor. I think my favorite part of this outfit is how it shows that yellow and black can work together. I still have minor fears about pairing the two, but when I see such a cute outfit it goes into a mental bank about how to pair things up.
I love the LOL prints! I wish it went better for my wardrobe.
Dull? Hardly!!!!
Cute, springtime outfit, Sal. And that cropped jacket is simply perfection.

Lovely Liberty print dress, gorgeous pattern and looks great with black – very chic and 1950s vibe xx
That happens to me all the time! I'll have an outfit all planned and then it has to adapt and evolve at the last minute! I do love that yellow Liberty print on you!
The print on that dress is fantastic! I just love it. But I love, more than that, how you styled it with the black ribbon belt and the cropped jacket. This is one of my favorite looks of yours!
I wish you were around last night to advise when I kept switching between boots and shoes. I thought they both looked atrocious. I ultimately went with the shoes. No pictures will be shared.
YAY for Liberty of London @ Target !!!
Gray/yellow (what the academichic ladies call "grellow") is one combination I want to try more this spring. The dress looked fabulous, and I thought the black accents let the dress take center stage. They were the jazz hands to your dress's "ta da!"
I love this black sweater/ Liberty of London combination!
i love that dress and i love it even more on YOU!!
I just got the bag of the same fabric. So cute, but not too cutesy.
I just love the black accents… especially with the belt tied in the front đŸ™‚
And dull or not, I enjoy your outfit-deciding story!
Love the Liberty dress on you, and the outfit definitely doesn't look like something you just threw together, it is super-stylish!
Ooh, I love that dress.
Bummer about the biking – weather happens!
All the black accessories are perfect with this, by the way, but I can't wait to see how you pull colour into it. I'm thinking turquoise??
Love this outfit — simple, yet visually arresting. Yellow is lovely on you, too.
