Dressed for: Black Accents

Already Pretty outfit featuring leaf print Karen Kane dress, neon necklace, black pumps, black leather tie belt

Dress – courtesy Karen Kane
Necklace – H&M – similar items
Belt – thrifted – similar
Pumps – Etienne Aigner via Ideeli – similar
Bangle – Electric Fetus – similar
Earrings – Target (no longer available) – similar

These photos look like they were taken in fall, don’t they? I assure you they are current. That tree behind my head goes all red-orange before it settles into its dark purple state. (It’s a Crimson King maple, for you plant lovers.)

This dress is a great length and – like many Karen Kane dresses – has sleeves! Yes to sleeves! However the big, black collar threw me off a bit. It seems a bit heavy for such a light print. So I added a relatively wide black belt for balance, a big black bangle, and black shoes. And a bright necklace for a wee bit of color.

The black belt balances the neckline so perfectly, I would have thought it a part of the original dress. And I love the pop of red in the necklace. Wonderful!

I am wondering how your tattoos factor into how you put together outfits. Do you consider the colors when you’re formulating your outfit?

I don’t, actually. I consider them to be part of my skin and don’t really see them. When they match or complement when I’m wearing, it’s a bonus but usually something that others point out to me. When they don’t, it doesn’t bother me.

Fabulous! Black-and-white prints are wonderful, but so many these days look as though they will go out of style rather quickly. This one looks like a keeper.

Everything about that dress, from the cut to the print is just amazing. Styling it with the belt just makes it perfect.
