Years ago, I carried a novel with me everywhere. I read often and eagerly, and never wanted to be without a good book. In recent years, a busy life and a constantly growing business overtook my pleasure reading and I all but stopped. Husband Mike and I have recently recommitted to regular pleasure reading, and spend at least one afternoon per weekend buried in our books. I wore this to a reading session in a local cafe. The scarf was necessary as those places are always FREEZING.

Or maybe it’s just me.

I know! The indoors reading places are so chilled. Your scarf is a great solution. Lately I’ve been reading outside in the shade, where it’s pretty steamy but fun for people-watching.

I would love to hear what some of your favorite books are! Love your outfit too.

Oh! Durr, should’ve at least mentioned what I’m into now: Just finished “Gone Girl,” which was a wild ride. Also read a very moving book aimed at high-schoolers called “Thirteen Reasons Why” which addresses the notion of a girl getting a “reputation” and how damaging that can be, even if it’s all based on falsehoods. “Carry the One” was also amazing and a fairly recent read. HM is reading the newish Tom Perotta, “The Leftovers,” and I’ll dig into that once he’s done!

I love those colors! That scarf is gorgeous!! I, too used to read a lot, but now computer has taken over it’s place. I am curious as to where this pic was taken. It looks like a covered bridge or building, not your usual outside shots. Are you getting lots of rain like we are here in Ohio? 19 days in a row! UGH!

As much as I prefer the feel of a physical book over an e-book, getting a Kindle was the best thing that has happened to my much-lagged reading habit. I love having a little e-reader that holds dozens and dozens of my fave reads (I love reading and rereading) anywhere.

How are the Miz Mooz Wallis? I recently bought my first pair of Miz Mooz shoes — platform sandals — and was bitterly disappointed; they were so cute, and would have been so comfortable except for an ankle strap so narrow and sharp it seemed designed to hobble. Feeling very unsure about giving the brand another shot.

Oh no! Sorry to hear that, Annabeth. I have Miz Mooz sandals and boots that are blissfully comfy, but these flats need a bit of breaking in. They’ll be fine eventually, but right now they cut into my heel a bit. They’re very flat, but sturdy so I have hope!

WOWZA! These colours are dynamite, lady! I love love love the way the scarf ties the blue and orange hues together =)

and I know what you mean about recommitting to pleasure reading. I earned my Ph.D. in June and am just now beginning to experience the pleasure of being completely engrossed by a narrative and enjoying the ride again. It’s very nice! It’s been years since I’ve read a book without a sense of pressure or deadline looming over the act.
