I wore this for a shift at Corset, and felt marvelously comfortable all day long in my jersey dress and bronze flats. Next to utility jackets, metallic flats are the item I recommend most to my clients. I veer away from the mirror-shiny ones, but subtle bronzes are amazingly versatile. I’ve had this pair for a couple of years and it never ceases to amaze me how many outfits they complement.

Are you a fan of the metallic flat? Or sandal? Do you stick to golds and bronzes or go for pewters and gunmetals?

Metallic shoes are the new black, I’m convinced. I don’t even really buy black shoes any more. Bronze or pewter all the way!

YES to metallic flats! So far I have them in pewter and gold and I’m on a quest for a more durable pewter pair. The color is flaking off the ones I bought at Nine West after less than a dozen wearings, but they are so comfortable I still wear them. I wear grey a lot and have always struggled with shoe colors to pair with it; the pewter is just perfect! Would love suggestions from your readers on specific brands or styles that come in pewter and have worked for you!

I have a pair of Born bronze metallic flats I bought at Nordstrom Rack about 5 years ago. I wear them all the time. I almost didn’t by them because I couldn’t think of anything in my closet that was a match. They go with everything!

Sally I love this outfit on you! That is probably in part because it is one I would wear myself but I really think it looks lovely on you. I love jersey fabric and am accumulating a wardrobe full of it. I blog about it a lot I think-lol. I really like those metallic flats and have never actually considered them before but yours really appeal to me. I am not big on shiny things but I like bronze or pewter. I always prefer metals with a bit of aged patina. Ballet flats don’t stay on my feet very well though because I have duck feet-regular width to and narrow heel. I love them but do better with a strap. You have inspired me to seek out some metallic flats now!

I like both the more muted metallics and the mirror-shiny options. Really like the dress!

Sally, I have to say that this is one of my favourite outfits you’ve worn… ever! I know it’s simple, but that’s what I like about it. The dress is a beautifully toned Navy, and the scarf looks terrific with it. It looks super comfortable, too. You look awesome! By the way, what is Karen Kane’s sizing like? Generous, small or true to size?

Thank you, my dear! Karen Kane sizing is generally true to their size charts, though some stuff runs a tad small. I’m wearing a size medium here, which is what I should wear according to their measurements. Thanks again for your kind words!

I seem to be addicted to metallic shoes. I have some black leather motorcycle boots with a rubbed silver finish, gold thong sandals, and some Diesel high-tops with zippers and other metallic decorations on them. I waited weeks for them to go on sale. So worth it.
