The increasingly shorter, increasingly darker days are starting to get to me, friends. I don’t feel much like myself and my supply of perkiness is dwindling. This outfit was an attempt to use color and pattern to lift my spirits, and it definitely helped. Nothing like some bold stripes and pops of bright pink to energize a gal.
How are you faring as winter bears down? Do YOU use color or pattern to boost your mood?

I love it! Pink/black/white is such a fun color combination.
Oh, I understand – the short days are referred to (with only a little irony) around here as “death and destruction!” I miss those wonderful long summer evenings. But I agree a cheery outfit is a help. Looking good!
YES. I recently bought a bright red wool coat that I’ve been wearing nonstop, and it’s definitely helping to boost my mood!
I work from home and ever since the daylight hours began to dwindle I’ve been taking a 40- or 50-minute walk every day while the sun is at its brightest. That way even though it gets dark early, I’ve ensured that I’ve had a good dose of sunshine (or cloud shine… Any light is good!).
That skirt is beautiful <3
I do use colour and pattern to cheer up the long winter I enjoy coloured tights and I am experimenting with pattern mixing tentively!
Outrageously gorgeous! I am sure you lifted the spirits of others around you too in this outfit.
This is one of my favorite color combinations – love it! I definitely struggle with the shorter days, even when we’ve been having unseasonably warm days this week. When it gets dark so early, it’s depressing. I try to get outside while it’s still light if at all possible. Otherwise, I end up feeling kind of blue. Wearing bright colors can help, but I still look forward to the longer days once again!
I just did today! Bright green, purple, and pink all in the same outfit! It does definitely help boost the mood.
Oh! Pink tights! Like these very much Sally (will make a mental note of these ones too). This outfit made me grin : )
I love that outfit!
This is a fun outfit, Sal! Personally I would have gone with black tights as I think that looks more sophisticated, but you look like you’re having fun and fully being you.
Justine: “This outfit made me grin”
This outfit make me smile wide and twirl!!!! Wowza, that is a mood lifter! I’m a first time reader, but more more MORE of these! Lovin every minute of it!!!!!!!! Pop Pop PINK POP-OOOOO!!
Yes a good outfit is definitely cheering. I enjoyed being all matchy-matchy today with rose quartz and garnet earrings, a pale pink cardigan and a burgandy dress with a cream/pink/black pattern.
What a terrific outfit! And you make it look so chic!
Maybe it’s because November is so grey:(. Time to get out the lightbox and make sure to get those walks in. Especially on days like today.
One of your best outfits ever! Gorgeous!
You look amazing in this!!!
This outfit is spectacular ! the skirt and the tights work tremendously well.
