I bought this skirt a couple of years ago because I loved the idea of a black leather maxi skirt. And, on someone slightly shorter than me who is wearing flats and possibly crouching just a bit, I’m sure this could be a maxi. But I’ve finally accepted that, for me, this is a midi skirt. Not a huge fan of the midi style overall, but for this fun vintage piece? I’ll make an exception!

Being of the rather tall variety, this is the length that most maxi skirts only dare to reach, leaving me feeling rather awkward and frumpy. Every so often I will run into a dress or skirt that makes the world trip on its hem, and it just *barely* sweeping the top of my arches.

I agree! I think this is just about the chicest thing ever and the skirt might be a bit too overwhelming if it was longer.

Ooooh, being a big midi fan myself, I LOVE seeing you in one. And leather? Vintage? Not only is the skirt just a fantastic find all around, but it is very becoming on you, gorgeous! The length is perfect for showcasing those striking tats, and I love how the leather makes the classic silhouette feel edgy. Bonus points for polka dots and the red/black/white color combo.

So glad you made the exception for this skirt because it’s brilliant. And I think I like it better as a midi than I would as a maxi – the shape is gorgeous.

Also, love the knotted polka dot blouse – I’m going to have to try this with my favorite black midi!

oh wow. That skirt is a gem. I used to have a long suede black maxi and for the life of me, I can’t tell you why I decided to get rid of it. *Kicking myself*

Sally, this look is everything!! As a fan of the midi skirt (I’ve yet to find a maxi skirt long enough), I love this skirt on you!! The polka and leather pairing, and red pump work so well together. If you tire of that midi beauty, feel free to send it my way, lol.

I don’t think the midi would look so great on me, but I’m a bigger fan of it than the maxi and you just ROCK this style! You have the look down just.right. I love that you have a sassy 50s vibe without going over the top. The leather, even if it’s vintage, makes it modern.

O dear me, you look gorgeous in this! I love the black and white and polka dots with the little pop of red. I have some skirts that I had to come to that realization with too, but luckily I love midi skirts. Especially fun leather ones!

Lovely, Sal. I like the proportions very much, and the nuance. I am a fan of nuance, much prefer a hint over primary colors, and you look lovely.

Holy moly, I love that skirt! If you ever get tired of it… 🙂 🙂 🙂

I love midi length as well – it shows off the shoes the best!

I love this whole look! While the skirt steals the show, I actually am in love with the little shirt and the tie-waist thing you’ve got going on.

FABULOUS. I love this skirt – love this entire outfit. You look just wonderful and I love the post title. Sarah xxx

You remind me of a “Pink Lady” from Grease, in the best possible way!

You are a genius! I thrifted a very similar skirt (slightly less full, I think, but black leather and similar length) a year or so ago and have not been able to figure out how the heck to style it. It feels almost like it wants to be 50s retro, but that material doesn’t go with that silhouette, you know? But this is perfect. After I get un-pregnant I have to try to recreate this look.

The midi length looks great on you. It has exactly the right proportions. In fact, I think a maxi skirt would not look as chic. You look great in this outfit!

yes! yes! yes! this is FAB. Might I say, with those red heels, this feels VERY Vianne Rocher in Chocolat? (current style icon!!). LOVE it. love love love it!!

I’m currently wearing an outfit that is shamelessly ripped off of this one 😉 I love it!
