Dressed for: Those Red Boots

Already Pretty outfit featuring black cardigan, black floral dress, black tights, red slouch boots, red jade necklace
Cardigan – Banana Republic (no longer available) – similar
Dress – my mom made it! – similar print
Tights – Commando courtesy Peek Brooklyn
Boots – Aldo (no longer available) – more red boots
Necklace – Bellinasimilar
Earrings – art fair – similar

We had an icy and slippery winter, and these boots have fairly slick soles which makes for a deadly combination. I haven’t had the chance to get them fitted with non-slip soles, so they’ve been gathering dust in my closet until recently. Got to haul them out during a momentary melt-off last week and paired them with this beloved dress that my mom made for me years back.

We’re once again under snow cover, so the red boots will wait patiently for a while more!

How does one go about getting a pair of shoes “fitted for non-slip soles?” I have to say, I have a few pairs that could do with a bit of improving…

Lora, there are versions you can buy at the drugstore and stick on yourself, but for my favorite pairs I take them to the cobbler. High end soles are Vibram brand and REALLY expensive. Like $80/pair including labor. But there are some lower end options, too.

With these red boots I might try the stick-ons, but I had Vibrams put on a favorite pair of Fluevog boots that I used to slide around in and they’re AMAZING. Comfy, durable, great grip and tread.
