Dressed for: Tux Cut

Already Pretty outfit featuring white tuxedo blazer, skull burnout tee, Prairie Underground cropped jeans, Franco Sarto Cicero, J.Crew rhinestone bracelet

Blazer – courtesy Karen Kane (no longer available) – similarsimilar/not tux
Tee – Rainbow Swirlz
Jeans – Prairie Underground courtesy Shop Adorn
Pumps – Franco Sarto Cicero
Bracelet – J.Crew via eBay –  similar items
Earrings – Old Navy (no longer available) – similar items

When this blazer arrived, I tried it with a handful of dresses before I realized that the tuxedo styling just wasn’t gonna work with my beloved full-skirted silhouette. The loose fit and low closure mean this jacket will work best with slim pants and jeans. Tux details seem to be constantly trending and while the contrast-stripe pants just make me feel like I should be heading onto the field with my marching band cohorts,* I think I can get behind this slightly slouchy tux-influenced blazer.

Is there anything in your closet with tuxedo details or styling? How do you wear these items?

*To be clear, I quit band before they forced me to march, but always had the utmost respect for the folks who got dragged to every home game our high school played. In giant furry hats, no less.

I’m looking for a pair of tuxedo jeans, not track-pants style, and having the darndest time keeping it under $150 (which is not OK for jeans in Patti-world : > ) You look cool in your tux jacket.

That jacket is giving the overall dress up very stylish look! Also those Pumps are so smart, want such pumps. I am really admired by your style. Good one!

Some of us didn’t get dragged, we donned those big furry hats quite willingly! 🙂 And I love that jacket.

      !marching band HI FIVE!

Yes, I came here specially to say that.
You look lovely as always, Sal.

Joining in the band-nerd love-fest! For me it was donning a wool beret, wool uniform, and a GIANT bass drum, and it was EVERY SINGLE GAME, not just home games. (Do I even need to specify that I’m from Texas?) So yes, the new tuxedo pants trend makes me think of band uniforms.

Love the jacket, and it looks fab on you! I love the tuxedo look, and I have been wearing the “trend” regularly for years. I think it’s that combination of a woman’s curves and feminine cut with a classic menswear style that makes me love it. I find the combination very sleek and sexy!

Looks great with the fuschia pumps and skull tee!
