Gracey Wears: Monochromatic Gray

I love color. Anyone who has ever seen my blog knows that I love color. And I love wearing multiple colors in a single outfit.

But, I also love a good monochromatic look because, while head-to-toe in a single color sounds boring, it doesn’t have to be.  And I think it can be a fun challenge to wear a monochromatic look that doesn’t make you nod off when looking in the mirror.

Take this outfit for example:

Fashion for Giants outfit featuring gray Old Navy moto jeans & a gray jeweled LOFT sweatshirt

Thanks to the shiny bits, there’s no nodding off here!

And that’s while wearing head-to-toe gray.  Gray, especially, can be a real snoozer of a color. But when you add in embellishments and metallic hues, it can also be interesting.  See?

Oooh, so interesting!

Really though, while I’m not saying this is the most exciting thing I’ve ever worn, I will say that the addition of texture and shine keeps this outfit from being drab and boring.

What about you, Reader Friends? Are you fans of monochromatic looks?  Any tips for making them work?

xoxo,

Gracey

I think it’s good to mix things up and not wearin your face exciting stuff every day. You look chic in a soft way and it is really nice! I love grey! I too love colour combinations but lately have been really feeling inspired by monochromatic looks. I find myself not even doing it on purpose but just instinctively pulling out all the items in a colour family. Of course, I have so much blue in my wardrobe it is very easy to do monochromatic blue outfits without even planning it. For what it’s worth, I really think skinny jeans and midi-skirts ( not together but then again why not! ) are really two of your best looks. It’s like they were made for you.
