Insomniac Sale Picks: Black Oxfords

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Several folks requested a few picks for black oxfords, so here we go:

vegan oxfords

Rocket Dog Julianbn Tuxedo Oxford – was $54.95, now $1.99 – $29.90

This vegan-friendly pair has a great nubuck-like finish and simple but stylish design. It’s a low-profile shoe and classic enough for androgynous looks, but not quite as heavy or bulky as an actual men’s pair. Available in this black as well as cream, tan, or burgundy in U.S. sizes 6 – 11. Size availability varies by color. This similar style is available in 2A and C/D widths. If you’re willing to do a dark gray instead of black, this brogue Rocket Dog pair is also super cute.

black brogue oxford

Hush Puppies Ellodie Oxford – was $130, now $24.99 – $113.99

Speaking of brogues, how sharp are these? The stacked heel gives them a marvelous menswear edge, and they get high marks for comfort from reviewers. (Though it sounds like they run a bit narrow, so be aware!) Available in this black as well as pale pink, stone, or tan in U.S. sizes 5.5 – 12. Size availability varies by color. This similar style is available in A4, A2, D and E2 widths.

wide width oxfords

Softwalk Maine Oxford – was $140, now $62.99 – $139.95

The high vamp and unadorned design on this pair also makes them look menswearish, but they’d look just as cute with a 90s-throwback dress as they would with trousers and a button-front. Available in this black as well as black suede, gray suede, and tan leather in U.S. sizes 6 – 12, including 2A and C/D widths.  Size availability varies by color.

menswear shoes

Sperry Top Sider Devon Ivy – was $120, now $72.99

The leather laces have been tied boat shoe-style here, but they can be undone or even removed entirely for lace-less, slip-on wear. This pair features a cushioned, removable insole and nonmarking soles. Available in this black as well as tan in U.S. sizes 5 – 11. Size availability varies by color. This similar style is available in 2A and C/D widths.

P.S. – Don’t think anyone was looking for HEELED oxfords specifically, but just in case this pair comes in black, brown, and cognac in B, 2A, and C/D widths.

Sustainable resources for black oxfords:

  1. Bali Elf – Handmade, customizable oxfords in a variety of styles. This stacked-heel pair is fantastic.
  2. Wonders – Made in Spain, and more along the sporty side of oxfords.
  3. Olukai – Only a few options – this leather oxford being the best – from this B-certified company.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for black oxfords:

  1. Frye – If I were going to buy oxfords, I’d probably pick up a pair of these classic Carsons.
  2. Cole Haan – Although the company is now known for quirky colors, they’ve got gorgeous black oxford options, too.
  3. Miz Mooz – For quirky/edgy oxfords.

Clarks! I recently got two pairs of oxfords from them and am loving them.

I love Oxfords, have several pairs (my default shoes) but I tend to avoid black apart from a pair in patent. These all look rather stern. I think black is a difficult colour if your shoe choice is so ‘sensible’. I have navy suede, grey, red for the summer, buttery beige…
