*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Trystan requested a few picks for bolero sweaters, so here we go:
Kenneth Cole Sweater Shrug – was $79.50, now $35.78
This 19″ long, open-design shrug has fitted 3/4-length sleeves and ribbed finish. It’s a wonderfully pared-down design that would look smashing with a geometric print dress or minimalist ensemble. Available in sizes XS – L in this aquamarine and black (which looks suspiciously like brown in the product shots). Size availability varies by color.
Jessica Howard Bolero Sweater – was $35, now $27.99
They’ve styled it a bit strangely here, but his is actually just a basic (if slightly long) curved-hem bolero. How do I know? Because it’s also available for full price over at Overstock.com in black (in plus sizes, too
with beaded trim), ivory
, yellow
, and cactus green
. And those guys paired this sweater with a dress, which looks far more natural. ANYHOO, it’s a great basic at a great price. Available in black and pink in sizes S – XL, linked to above. Size availability varies by color.
Nic+Zoe Mixed Stitch Bolero – was $108, now $54.99
That button closure at the top will be a deal-breaker for some of you, but will work beautifully on others. This option has thick ribs in the body, a rounded hem, and 3/4 sleeves. Love that brilliant pink shade! Available in sizes XS – XL.

- White House Black Market – Color selection may be limited, but this vendor typically has a few bolero sweater options in stock. (Only two right now, but check back!)
- Overstock.com
– More options during spring and summer, so check ’em out soon.

Hey Sal–
I love this series of posts, but I have a question. Are they intended to just answer the specific question posed by the reader, or are they meant to have broader appeal to your readers? I ask because I have seen lots of posts that only include straight sizes, maxing out around an XL or 14/16. While I haven’t kept a running tally, I have developed the impression that these posts don’t include plus size options unless the reader question specifically requests them. Is there a reason for this? (Or, am I mistaken in this impression?)
Courtney, that’s correct. Unless someone specifies petite, plus, tall, or some other specific fit, I stick to sizes that max out around XL.
For these posts, I am challenged to find items that are:
1. On sale
2. Relatively reasonably priced
3. Pleasing to my own taste
4. Available in as full a size run as possible (generally 2-14 or XS-XL)
5. Fit the criteria requested by the reader
6. Also appeal to readers other than the requester.
Hitting all six is tough. If I added “available in plus sizes” to that list, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also add petite and tall at the very least. And then I’d be confined to a tiny, tiny group of vendors and an even smaller pool of possible items. I try to include any additional available sizes when I can, but unless someone specifies, I go for XS-XL.
Hope that makes sense!
Great options! I’ll definitely pick up one of these in black 🙂
i want to pass on the info that target has some boleros available right now, as does old navy. old navy’s website markets them as cropped cardis or shrugs, and while i can’t find them on the target website, i’ve seen them in the stores.
Thanks, A!
