Insomniac Sale Picks: Chevron Print Dresses

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Julie requested a few picks for chevron print dresses, so here we go:

tahari kurt chevron dress

Tahari by ASL Sleeveless Chevron A-Line Dress – was $134, now $59.99

I adore the details on this dress: The flared skirt, V neckline, work-appropriate knee-length hem. It’ll be fabulous now on its own, and the black in the pattern means it can be paired with dark layers once the weather cools. Available in sizes 2 -16. Also see this black/blue version in sizes 18 -24.

michael kors chevron dress

MICHAEL Michael Kors League Tank Dress – was $160, now $134.99

This dress has so much potential, even though it looks a bit flat here. Swap out that self-belt for a cognac leather one, pull on a denim jacket and some cute boots, and you’re ready for fall. Or if it’s still hot out, pick a contrasting belt and bright sandals for a bold, fun look. Available in sizes XS – XL, and also in 0X – 3X for $143.99.

calvin klein chevron dress

Calvin Klein Rayon Full Skirt Dress – was $99, now $49.50

There were woefully few black and white options, and even this one is actually black and heather gray. But such a fun combination of stripes and chevrons in a fun, versatile little shape. Available in sizes 2 – 14.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for chevron print dresses:

  1. Dillards – It was tough to find vendors that carried multiple chevron dresses, but Dillards has a few!
  2. Macy’s – Several cute options including maxis, knee-length dresses, and various sizes of chevron print.
  3. Modcloth – Mostly shorter dresses, but so many cute ones! Love this black and white dress with darling cutouts.

I have some lovely tan wool pants I bought inspired by last year’s Celine ad. They look great with some leopard print flats but I need something warm (preferably layers) to wear on the top half. As I am a pear shape this only leaves things lighter/brighter than the tan wool, so ivory, cream etc and my only light jackets are summer linen ones. Clealry I need to hunt out something extra, what would you suggest?

SewRuthie, I’ve gotta push back just a wee bit and say that just because you’re pear-shaped doesn’t mean you’ve GOT to wear darker on the bottom at all times! Your choice, of course, but clearly it’s causing you to really limit your options in this case …

I love the look of camel with denim, and actually saw ELLE do a chambray shirt with wide legged camel pants back when Celine did that collection. Olive is another great choice if you want to do a neutral mix, and heather grays are lovely. Burgundy, too, though it is dark. You could do a tank, jacket/blazer, and scarf for layers, or if the pants are wide legs they’d likely look great with a cozy turtleneck sweater. Hope that helps!

Hi Sally! Could you do an insomniac sale pick for comfortable nude flats and/or pumps?

  3. Chris

Hi, Sally – I am a big fan of your Insomniac Picks! I hope you might consider a couple more suggestions:

I would love to find some “Katherine Hepburn” style trousers – preferably flat front! I don’t understand why manufacturers are on a kick to make “trousers” with curved hips and a slightly below-the-waist fit. The lower rise means the waistband fastener falls right at the little annoying pooch at my abdomen, adding bulk right where I don’t want it. Trousers that sit at the waist and that fall straight from the hip are flattering are tough to find.

The other item that I’m searching for is white knit tops that are opaque. Many times tees look like undershirts (especially if they’re cheap) which isn’t appropriate for the office. Any suggestions or brands that you like?

    Thanks so much!
