Insomniac Sale Picks: Collarless Jackets

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Vanesa requested a few picks for collarless jackets, so here we go:

collarless blazer

Halogen Oxford One-button Jacket – was $138, now $82.80

I’m smitten with reverse-lapel designs like this one since they essentially have all of the elements of a traditional blazer without the added bulk of true lapels. Also love the three flap pockets. Available in navy in sizes 0 -16, as well as petite sizes. This similar style comes in black and navy in sizes 14W  -24W.

open front blazer

Adrianna Papell Marni Clean Seamed Blazer – was $149, now $59.17 – $149

Gotta love the sleek, clean lines on this smart jacket. The way it’s styled here shows how well it will layer with a busy or complex-looking top. Available in black in sizes 2 -16. This similar style is available in black as well as stripes in sizes 14W – 24W and this one in petite and tall sizes. This Adrianna Papell collarless jacket is a stunner, too, though only available in sizes 6 – 14.

white collarless jacket

Talbots Refined Crepe Jacket – was $199, now $149.25

Still spendy, even on sale, but a great choice if you prefer a rounded high collar. Talbots also sells matching skirts and pants, so you can make a suit of this one! Available in this ivory as well as black or baby blue in sizes 2 – 20, as well as petite, plus, and petite plus sizes. Size availability varies by color.

collarles jacket

Loft Textured Collarless Blazer – $98

Not currently on sale, it’s true, but I’m including this blazer because Loft has a sale approximately every five seconds so I’m sure it WILL be on sale very soon. And because it’s got a great nubby texture, comes in this salmon as well as navy or white and is available in sizes 00 -18 as well as petite and tall sizes. Size availability varies by color. Similar colors and styles in plus sizes right here.

utility jacket

Gap Utility Jacket – was $275, now $127.49

Aaaand because I still believe that virtually every woman can use a great utility jacket, I’m including this stand-collar but lapel-free version. It’s a great length with a cinch-able waist and available in this olive (my favorite) as well as peach, tan, or navy. Available in sizes XS – XXL. Size availability varies by color. This similar style is available in petite and plus sizes, and this one in petite and tall sizes.

Sustainable resources for collarless jackets:

  1. Eileen Fisher – Some of my favorite collarless and lapel-free jackets are EF. This organic linen one would be super versatile.
  2. eBay – Honestly, Eileen kinda has the corner on sustainable collarless … but eBay has hundreds of used options.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for collarless jackets:

  1. Nordstrom – A few more options in addition to the one above, mostly under “open front” for some reason.
  2. Nine West – Check this brand if you’re looking for bright colors. Great plus size selection, too.
  3. H&M – Lots of great collarless jackets including this cool jacquard topper.
  4. J.Crew – Just a couple of styles now, but the brand has done lovely collarless options several seasons running.

Sustainable options are either used, handmade, made in the U.S., artisan made in non-sweatshop conditions, or made using sustainable/fair trade practices.

I’m not a big fan of Eileen Fisher’s style, but their sustainability cred is great. I did the Climate Ride from New York City to Washington DC and they had several staff members participating who they sponsored.
