Insomniac Sale Picks: Colorful Pants for Fall

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Laura requested a few picks for colorful pants that will transition from summer to fall, so here we go:

loft_marisa_pant

Marisa Bootcut Pant – was $79.50, now $59.50
with code TAKE20

The whole burgundy/oxblood/merlot “trend” may have subsided somewhat, but that family of colors is still versatile, rich, and perfect for fall wear. These classic bootcut trousers will work beautifully for neutral office ensembles, or punch up colors like navy, mustard, red, and teal. Available in burgundy, heather gray, and black in sizes 00 – 18, including some petite and tall sizes.

8. Line & Dot Tie Pant - Cobalt

Line & Dot Tie Pant – was $110, now $43.97

My inner Kate Hepburn is swooning over these. Fabulous high waist with a tie, exaggerated wide legs, flowy material … so elegant. All the mags are saying cobalt is the color for fall, so these will be right on-trend for the coming season. Available in sizes XS – L. (Similar options: Target has cobalt ankle pants in 16W – 24W.)

Sloan-Fit Slim Ankle Pant – was $89.50, now $39.99

OK, this is a bit of a cheat. These pants are on sale in this deep pink, but only available in 4, 6, and 14. However! They also come in burgundy, dark mustard, flame orange, hunter green, blue, black, and navy in sizes 0 – 16, with a few 00s and short, regular, and tall inseams available as well as petite sizes. True crops might feel too summery, but ankle pants are very stylish for fall. (Similar options: Loft has a similar style in bright mustard, teal, dusty pink, tan, and black in sizes 00 – 18.)

9. J Brand Courduroy Jeans - Great Red

J Brand Courduroy Jeans – was $209, now $83.97

Nothing says “autumn” like rust-colored corduroy! J Brand is a beloved denim line and these skinnies would look so fantastic tucked into a pair of cozy boots. They’ve got a super chic zipper detail at the ankle, too, so they’d be equally fun with heels or booties. Bear in mind, though, that the zipper will make them tough to hem – 29″ inseam. Available in sizes 24 -31. (Similar options: Also love these burgundy velvet skinnies, in 24 – 32. These burgundy ponte ankle pants are available in 2 – 18.)

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for colorful pants that will transition from summer to fall:

  1. LOFT – Many of the colorful styles – like these bi-stretch pants – are ankle length, so they’ll be great for the remainder of summer but transition to fall beautifully.
  2. Boden – Avoid the crops, and stick to colorful denim and twill. These skinny jeans come in 15 colors! Including many that will be marvelous for autumn.
  3. Macy’s – Great style and size selection, including colorful pants that AREN’T skinny.
  4. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Most of the pants at thrift stores are either black, or brightly colored. Look for classic styles in shades you love. (thethriftshopper.com can help you locate stores near you.)

Hemming pants with zip legs: not really a problem. Just unzip to where you want them to end. Can unpick the excess zipper tape, leave an inch or so, and fold this excess back inside roughly diagonal and secure.
