Insomniac Sale Picks: Cropped Cardis for Cold Weather

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Laura requested a few picks for cropped cardigans for fall and winter, so here we go:

Elizabeth Cardigan by Suss2 – was $180, now $49.69 – $74.69

This cardigan is made from bamboo, which has the same marvelous breathability and temperature regulation properties as silk: It keeps you cool and dry in summer, warm and insulated in winter. The sassy ruffled placket make this a great choice for work, a casual night out, or dressed-up weekend wear. Available in this red, taupe, black, and winter white in sizes S – XL. (Size availability varies by color.)

Merino/Cashmere Cropped Cardigan – was $98, now $73.50

Both merino and cashmere are powerhouses when in comes to warmth, so they make a fantastic blend for cold weather wear. This cardigan comes in heather gray as shown, winter white, red, black, and forest green in sizes 2 – 18. Size availability varies by color.

Apt. 9 Textured Lurex Cropped Cardigan – was $60, now $42

So this cardigan is only available in petite sizes which may thwart a few of you, but since it’s on the longer side of cropped it might still squeak by. It’s an acrylic blend shot through with metallic threads, so will keep you warm based mostly on being a bit thicker than many other cropped styles. Available in petite sizes XS – XL.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for cropped cardigans for fall and winter:

  1. Boden – Options in cashmere and a cotton blend in great colors.
  2. Nordstrom – Classic styles and trendy options at a variety of price points, and a few plus-sized options mixed in!
  3. 6pm – Includes drape-front, boxy, classic, and formal. There are several short-sleeved options in the mix, but lots of cozy long-sleeved ones as well.
  4. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Many of my favorite cropped cardis and boleros hail from my thrift haunts. ( can help you locate stores near you.)

I have a really hard time finding casual pants that are comfortable to sit and work in (I work at home, so I do mean casual). I still want something cute that I feel good in, so I don’t have to give up and put on my too-big cargo pants or my favorite sweats.

I would love to see scarves (fashion, not winter) featured – especially long, colorful ones.
