Insomniac Sale Picks: Elastic Waist Jeans

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Amy requested a few picks for elastic waist jeans that aren’t dowdy so here we go:

lee barely bootcut

Lee Natural Fit Pull-On Demi Barely Bootcut Jean – was $54, now $29.99 – $34.90

So, let me tell you a little something about elastic-waist, pull-on jeans: THEY ARE MARVELOUS. Unless you habitually tuck your top into your jeans, no one will ever know what’s happening in that waistband area. You get none of the bulk of a button and zip, and you are completely comfy. Do not mock until you’ve tried. The Lee Barely Bootcut line is fabulous for those who want a little shaping without a noticeable flare. This style comes in this sanded wash as well as two dark washes and a raw wash in sizes 4 – 18, including some short inseams. Also in petite and plus sizes.

jag pull on straight leg

Jag Jeans Peri Pull-On Straight Leg – was $80, now $46.85 – $75.99

A couple of months back a woman in her late 80s came into the boutique and we started talking denim. She told me she absolutely HATED Jag Jeans because they were so “old lady,” so naturally I had to investigate. I’m an old lady at heart, after all. I’ve ordered a few pairs from Amazon, and been really pleased with the quality, design, and fit. The skinnies aren’t super skinny, but other than that, thumbs up. This straight leg pair comes in this dark wash, a sanded blue, or gray in sizes 2 -16. Also in petite and plus sizes.

liverpool pull on skinnies

Liverpool Sienna Pull-On Legging Jean – was $85.99, now $69

I don’t own any Liverpool jeans myself, but I’ve sold many pairs and they’re good quality. Most are a little low rise for my taste, but this pair – like most pull-ons – has a high rise. Available in this black as well as a dark rinse or whisker wash in sizes 2 – 16, sold out in 8 and 10. Also available in petite. This similar pair is available in sizes 14W – 24W.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for elastic waist jeans:

  1. Jag – Lots of great options in addition to the one above. Includes petite and plus sizes. Also check Nordstrom and 6pm for this brand.
  2. Karen Kane – Mostly the leggings and jeggings are elastic waisted, but there’s also this knit band bootcut pair. Karen Kane also does petites and plus sizes.
  3. Lee – Not a ton on the Lee site itself, but Amazon has more options.

  1. Dust. Wind. Bun.

I love love love the Lee pull-ons – I have 4 pairs in different styles and sizes, and I intend to gradually transition most of my jean wardrobe over to them. As someone whose weight and waist shape fluctuates frequently (I can literally try something on in the morning and again at night and it won’t fit the same), these adjust beautifully. If you’re shopping in a physical store, I suggest checking them out at Kohl’s, as they usually have a sale running. And for some reason, on Amazon, there’s usually one cut or color that’s priced at $19.99, for no apparent reason (and it changes every few weeks) so it’s worth keeping an eye on.

OH! And! You have to special order it, but the basic styles and colors come in not only a petite range, but a PETITE SHORT. First time I’ve bought jeans in my actual size range that were the right length as they were styled – I’ve bought kid-‘husky’, and jeans intended to be cropped or capris, but never ones actually intended for short legs! The inseam is 26 inches! The actual inseam I need! It’s kind of a mini-miracle for me.
