*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Ruth requested a few picks for interesting black skirts, so here we go:
Scully Tracy Suede Skirt – was $120, now $38.39
Let’s start super-funky and work our way back, shall we? This is a ridiculously low price for a genuine suede, lined skirt, and although fringe is definitely trendy, this style will always look cute with casual and edgy outfits. Available in this black as well as tan or chocolate brown in sizes XS – XL, and in XXL here. Size availability varies by color. This similar style is faux leather, but available through size 32. Also love this belted faux suede skirt with flap pockets!
Three Dots Kyla Wrap Skirt – was $88, now $35.99
Mmmm, I do love asymmetric detailing. This pencil skirt might get a bit breezy with its wrap-front design, but worn with tights I imagine it won’t feel quite as revealing. Available in sizes S – L and made in the U.S. This similar style is available in plus sizes.
Boden Maude Skirt – was $108, now $75.60
with code 3Y8N
Definitely simple in design, but this A-line velvet midi skirt is far from boring. The luxurious texture makes it ideal for holiday party wear, but it can also be toned down with a simple cashmere sweater and boots. Available in this black as well as burgundy or navy in sizes 2 – 18. Size availability varies by color. This similar velour style also comes in black, navy, and burgundy in sizes small plus – 5X.
Calvin Klein Embellished Pencil Skirt – was $89.50, now $43.99
with code FEAST
A step up from your basic pencil, this button-accented skirt has a slightly nautical feel … but not to the point of being costume-y. It’ll look dynamite with a bright blouse and printed heels! This similar style is available in plus sizes.
Mod-o-Doc High-low Hem Skirt – was $110, now $46.19
I hesitated to put to suede-texture skirts into the mix tonight, but this one is so darned cool I couldn’t resist including it. Get a load of that artfully draped hemline! It could definitely be a showpiece, but has casual appeal, too. I’d pair it with a tucked-in graphic tee and cropped moto. Also in brown. Available in sizes S – XL, and also on Amazon in several colors. This skirt is shorter but has a similar shape in plus sizes.
Sustainable resources for interesting black skirts:
- The Realreal – Hundreds of secondhand designer options, many of them the same price as a new Banana Republic or J.Crew skirt and FAR cooler.
- Etsy – Every length, fiber, and style imaginable … plus a few that defy imagination. Love this maxi skirt with oversized pockets.
- Nanette Lepore – Frilly and flippy made-in-the U.S. skirts.
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for interesting black skirts:
- ASOS – Nearly 400 black skirts. Zounds. Check out this sculptural asymmetric pencil skirt! Petite, plus, tall, and maternity available in some styles.
- Modcloth – Vintage and trendy skirt styles, many through 4X.
- Nordstrom – The cool styles tend to sell out fast, but Nordstrom can be relied upon to stock unusual black skirts. This pleated faux leather skirt is right up my alley.
