Insomniac Sale Picks: Jackets for Tunics

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Jaclyn requested a few picks for lightweight jackets that work with a long-over-lean outfit, so here we go:

BCX Blazer – was $59, now $39.99

So! In most cases, jackets worn with tunics should either be long (approximate length of tunic within a few inches) or cropped. This cropped version cinches at the waist, but also slopes in back for gentle shaping. It would look fabulous with a flowy tunic and skinny jeans. Available in S – L.

Sutton Studio Cashmere Blend Coat – was $298, now $49.93-$79.99

And at the opposite end of the spectrum, here’s a long coat. It’s a cashmere-wool blend and likely meant to be a fall/spring outdoor coat, but it’s also lightweight and unlined and would make a fabulous duster for tunic wearage. Comes in this gorgeous orange, magenta, lime, curry yellow, and black. Sizes 2 -24, although many are only available in petite sizes.

Nic and Zoe double-breasted knit blazer – was $99, now $65.90

Blazers and jackets with defined waists also work well with many tunics. Tunic tops can be pretty formless, and a blazer that has shape – even worn open – will help define the figure. This knit version has a shaped waist and seems to hang well worn open. Plus it comes in black, red, heather gray, magenta, teal and cobalt in addition to this bright white. Sizes XS – XL, and petite P – L.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for jackets that will work with tunics:

  1. Tulle – This retailer does its best work in the jacket/blazer department. More cropped options than long, but there are a few of both … and more will show up through spring and summer.
  2. Express – I own this stripy blazer, which  has a nipped waist AND strong shoulders (which may be awesome or awful, depending on your tastes and figure!) This shop has lots of other cropped options, too.
  3. Soft Surroundings – A great source for long jackets AND tunics!
