*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Stephanie requested a few picks for lightweight cardigans that look good when worn open or unbuttoned, so here we go:
Halogen Merino Wool Blend Cardigan – was $79, now $39.49
Cardigans that look good worn open will vary from figure to figure, so there are no foolproof responses to this request. In many cases, longer cardigan styles drape better and cling less when worn open. This one is a merino/acrylic blend that is fairly light and sheer. A good choice for warm weather coverage. Available in citron, emerald, and black in sizes XS – XL. Size availability varies by color.
Jones New York Open Front Cardigan – was $129, now $59.99
Open-front and waterfall designs are meant to be worn open and work for many figures, too. I’m not wild about this color combo, but this style is fabulous, shorter sleeves make it warm weather friendly, and this version was the only one I could find on sale. You can find over 20 iterations of this same JNY cardigan style in different colors and in petite and plus sizes over on Amazon. This short-sleeved version is available in sizes S – XL.
LOFT Sheer 3/4-sleeve cardigan – was $44.50, now $26.70
With code FAMILYLOFT
Gentle v-necks look elegant worn open, and this one is sheer and lightweight. Available in this robin’s egg blue, white, black, yellow, purple, tan, and pink in sizes XXS – XXL. Size availability varies by color.
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for lightweight cardigans that look good when worn open or unbuttoned:
- Banana Republic – BR cardis tend to be relatively high-quality knits and designed to work open or buttoned. This long cardi is a good bet.
- J.Crew – Known and loved for their sweaters, J.Crew makes great lightweight cardigans.
- Boden – Current line includes several open-front designs like this one.
- And, of course, THRIFT STORES! It’ll be hit or miss, for sure, but most thrift stores are bursting with cardigans so there are bound to be a few that hang perfectly when worn open. (thethriftshopper.com can help you locate stores near you.)
