*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Wide Curves requested a few picks for lightweight windproof coats, so here we go:
DKNY Double Breasted Trench Coat – was $180, now $119.90
A short trench like this is fabulous for cool but not freezing weather, and as this one is lined it will be warm but not heavy. Bonus: It is both water resistant AND machine washable! Available in red, mustard, navy, and black in sizes XS- XL. Some petite sizes also available. Size availability varies by color. (This trench with a detachable liner is available in 1X – 3X in black, and 2X – 3X in red and tan. Not on sale.)
Ellen Tracy Soft Shell A-Line Coat – was $138, now $82.80
Soft shell coats are a great bet for the lightweight/windproof combo. This one has a sleek, A-line shape and comes in this rich purple as well as classic black. Just add a printed scarf to up the style factor. Available in sizes XS – L, XS and S petite. (This soft shell swing coat comes in 1X – 3X, but is not currently on sale.)
Betsey Johnson Tiered Hem Soft Shell Coat – was $138, now $89.90
Not sure why this gal looks so miserable. Her coat is DARLING, after all. Another soft shell option, this one with a self-belt and some fabulous princess seaming. Available in hot pink and black in sizes XS – XL. (This magenta hooded trench is somewhat similar, and available in sizes 1X – 3X.)
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for lightweight windproof coats:
- Eddie Bauer – This is where my own lightweight coat hails from and I ADORE it. I’m actively trying not to buy this double-breasted hooded coat right now.
- Land’s End – Always top marks for size diversity, and offering some cute coats this season. The Outrigger is a great coat and decidedly windproof.
- Boden – Heavy on the wool, but in lined versions they should fight the wind. Plus a few sportier options like this darling printed trench.
- And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Coats are typically abundant at thrift stores, especially this time of year. You could hit the jackpot on something light and windproof! (thethriftshopper.com can help you locate stores near you.)
