*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Jennifer requested a few picks for modest plus-size formal dresses, so here we go:
IGIGI Piazza Plisse Dress – was $132, now $92.99
Hot pink and black colorblocking makes for an on-trend look. With its decidedly high waist, this dress won’t work on all figures, but I adore this line overall and this was one of the few modest dresses on sale and still available in a decent size run. See below for more IGIGI love. This dress available in sizes 12 – 32.
Betsy & Adam Sleeveless Ruffled Gown – was $169, now $99.99
As an actual gown, this dress falls on the really formal side of formal, though it could certainly be dressed down somewhat with chunky jewelry and bright shoes. I assume that if you don’t stick your knee into that side slit, it will hang mostly closed, plus it’s not scandalously high to begin with. Available in sizes 14W – 20W.
Jones New York Three-Quarter-Sleeve Jeweled Dress – was $134, now $113.90
With code SUMMER
I was really hoping to find some colorful options, but the on-sale modest ones were mostly black. Sigh. This simple frock has some elegant detailing including the draped skirt and jeweled side panel. And it could certainly be perked up with colorful shoes or jewelry. Available in sizes 14W – 24W.
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for modest plus-size formal dresses:
- Igigi – This designer has cocktail and formal options, but even the wear-to-work dresses may be formal enough for some occasions.
- Macy’s – Jennifer is looking for a wedding guest dress, and Macy’s even has a “guest of wedding” option in their plus size searches! I’m drooling over this two-tone full-skirt dress.
- Nordstrom – So many gorgeous options. “Guest of wedding” is a search option here, too, and yields frocks like this belted floral frock. SO PRETTY.
