Insomniac Sale Picks: Petite Trouser Jeans

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Charlene requested a few picks for petite trouser jeans, so here we go:

jag petite trouser jeans

Jag Elisha Trouser Jeans – was $84, now $49.90

A super simple, dark wash trouser jean with four-pocket styling and a nice, high rise, these petite jeans are almost dressy enough to pass for pants in more casual office environments. 30.5″ inseam. Available in petite sizes 0 -14. (I couldn’t find petite plus trouser jeans, but Talbots has petite plus bootcuts in several washes.)

Dockers Slimming Straight-Leg Trouser Jeans – was $39.99, now $31.99

This pair is midrise with straight leg styling and an extended tab closure. Another option that is dark and clean enough for many workplaces. 29″ inseam. Available in black and dark denim washes in petite sizes 4 -12, sold out in 8. Size availability varies by color.

Eddie Bauer Curvy Trouser Jeans$69.95

This was a tough one, and I’m crying “uncle” with this pair at full price. They come in three washes – dark navy, black, and this “Baltic” blue – and are also available in tall sizes and plus through 24W. In petites – a 30″ inseam – they’re available in sizes 2 -18.

earl jeans petite trouser

Earl Jeans Petite Trouser – was $54, now $15.99

And here’s a light wash pair on SUPER sale, but only available in petite sizes 6, 8, and 12! Back pocket detailing and whiskering make these considerably more casual than the other pairs. Inseam is 29″.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for petite trouser jeans:

  1. eBay – Mostly used, of course, but with over 2,300 options it’s definitely worth a look!
  2. Loft – Just a couple of styles right now, but Loft does lots of petites and nearly always has trouser jeans in stock.
  3. Not Your Daughter’s Jeans – Four great styles of petite trouser jeans. Love this pair.

You must have done some magic, the Eddie Bauer jeans are on sale for $59,99 now!

(not blaming you for this of course! but) I’m baffled at a world where “petite” inseams are 29+ inches. I haven’t found that women my size (5 feet tall) are rare, so where are the 26-inch inseams? If I could wear a 29-inch without heels, I’d be average size, not petite (at least to my mind).

aaaaaaaanyway, aside from my own personal pet peeve, these are some nice pants, so thanks!

Oh, I feel your pain! I’m 5′ with a 26″ inseam myself! I’ve just given up on finding jeans that don’t need hemming in stores, and learned how to hem my own pants. Now, getting up the motivation to hem them when I purchase them is something else… I have a pair sitting on my dresser right now that need hemming, and have been there at least a month.

There is one place to get inseams short enough, though. Kohl’s website offers some brands with Petite-Short lengths that are 26-27″! I know for sure Lee and Croft & Barrow are available in these lengths. I haven’t had much luck finding them in the brick & mortar stores, but at least I can try on styles in the store, and then go home and order them in the P-S.

I’m curious what your experience has been with the quality of NYDJ. I checked out their website, and I’m interested, but I’ve had bad luck with jeans with stretch in them wearing out very quickly. Is the quality on this brand worth the investment?

    • Sally

Hannah, my only pair is coated denim so it has less stretch potential than most. But contributor Une Femme SWEARS by this brand as one of the best available, and she has high standards so I’ve always felt comfortable including it in sale picks posts. If you’re interested in more customer feedback, Nordstrom and Amazon allow users to post reviews and you can see what others think of certain styles!
