Insomniac Sale Picks: Shorter Length V-neck Cardigans

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Maureen requested a few picks for v-neck cardigans that aren’t super long, so here we go:

Liz Claiborne Long-Sleeve Basketweave Cardigan – was $45, now $26.39
with code 25HOURS

The basketweave texture lends this just-shy-of-cropped cardigan an interesting twist. Those are snaps on the front, too! 100% cotton and machine washable. Available in this green as well as black, red, tan, navy, ivory, oatmeal, or gray in sizes XS – XL, including petite sizes. Size availability varies by color. Also in sizes 1X – 3X in four colors here. Don’t dig the texture? JC Penney also has this short v-neck cardi in nine colors and a stripe.

Land’s End 3/4-sleeve Dress Cardigan – was $59, now $34.99 – $47.20
with code WARM and pin 1511

So, I have owned this Land’s End style in the past, and can attest to its length: It is short, but not cropped. Perfect for wearing with dresses, as the name implies. It is, however, a bit on the boxy side, so if you’re looking for a slim/close fit, this might not be the best bet. That said, it’s great quality and, being LE, available in regular, petite, tall, and plus sizes. Colors are this purple as well as bright yellow, navy, black, or cobalt.

Old Navy Lightweight Cardigan – was $19.94, now $14.40
with code DEAL

This cotton/poly blend gets high marks from most reviewers and makes a great classic basic. With 3/4 sleeves and made from a lightweight material, it’ll be best for warmer climates or folks who tend to run hot. Available in this gray as well as oatmeal, pink, navy, wine, ice blue, teal, white and black in sizes XS – XXL. Also in some tall and petite sizes. Size availability varies by color. This style is also lightweight although it features a zip instead of buttons in sizes 14-28.

BONUS PICKS: This ribbed v-neck cardigan and this pocketed v-neck cardigan are both from Ann Taylor. Not currently on sale, but AT gives a discount approximately every 10 seconds, so check back in a few days.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for v-neck cardigans that aren’t super long:

  1. Modcloth – The Charter School Cardigan comes in 21 colors and sizes S – 4X. It’s a great basic v-neck that’s not too long. But it pretty much never goes on sale!
  2. JC Penney – Lots more options in addition to the one above, including this  Joe Fresh v-neck in six colors.
  3. Land’s End – Out of 21 v-neck styles, at least seven hit above the hip. This one comes in six colors in regular, petite, and plus.
  4. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! You’ll find a wider variety of cuts and lengths if you shop secondhand. ( can help you locate stores near you.)

This was timely for me. I’m actually transitioning out of wearing cardigans all the time (moving on to blazers). I do want a few cardigans for chilly office days now that space heaters are banned in our office tower. That’s another story. I went with black, charcoal grey and teal from Old Navy, which will go with a lot I already have. I hate long sleeves, so 3/4 is perfect for me. Based on a previous Insomniac Sale Pick, I bought several s/s Old Navy cropped cardigans this summer and loved them! Thanks, Sally!

I also agree with your comments about the Land’s End cardigans. They are well made, with beautiful, deep colors and wash great – but they are a bit boxy. I have no obvious waist, so I am really looking out for clothing cuts that give me one!

Sally I just bought the Lands End cardi in cobalt. I love it. It is a little boxy but hits right at the waist and the color is gorgeous.

Will you do a sale picks of 100% cotton or 100% wool zip front cardigans. With or without a hood is good.

Since you just did cardigans, if you want to wait awhile, that’s fine.

I have to say, I’ve ordered 3 of the ModCloth Charter School cardigans and LOVE them. People complain about them pilling, but I haven’t had a huge problem with that yet. The rust color is my new favorite sweater for Fall!
