Insomniac Sale Picks: Single-breasted Wool Coats

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

TinaPete requested a few picks for single-breasted wool coats, so here we go:

1. Nicole Miller - Single Breasted Skirted Coat

Nicole Miller Skirted Coat – was $265, now $146.99

Bright coats are the thing for fall and winter, and this darling coat comes in two bold shades and has fabulous details. Princess seams mean it creates a waist withou pinching and on-seam pockets blend in with the natural lines of the coat. Part that oversized collar and pop a printed scarf in there and you’ll be the chicest woman on the block. Fully lined. Available in pink and cobalt in sizes 4 – 16. Size availability varies by color.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Hooded Car Coat – was $225, now $159.99
with code 4WORK

This shorter car coat is great for cool days and commuters who don’t spend loads of time outside. It features a sleek, clean front and defined waist with a classic collar and cozy zip-off hood. Fully lined. Available in red, purple, dark gray, and black in sizes 2 – 14. Size availability varies by color.

2. Vince Camuto - Single Breasted High Collar Coat (Wine)

Vince Camuto High Collar Coat – was $200, now $89.99

Funnel neck coats are eternally chic, and this cozy bordeaux version is no exception. TinaPete was hoping for some masculine details, and this one boasts one-button cuffs and a slightly military design. Fully lined. Available in sizes XS – XL.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for single-breasted wool coats:

  1. Land’s End – Great for afforable, durable coats in a variety of sizes. This swing car coat is adorable. Petite, plus, tall, and petite plus sizes, too.
  2. Nordstrom – One of the few retailers that has a good selection of coats right now. This asymmetric wool coat is killing me.
  3. Bloomingdale’s – Designer picks mixed with more affordable options.
  4. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Coats are durable, so they make ideal thrift candidates. Most shops will have fall items on the racks by now. ( can help you locate stores near you.)

I love that asymmetric one at Nordstrom!

Could you do one on blazers/jackets for women with broad shoulders? I like the structured/professional look of a blazer, but I find that most are so fitted across the shoulders that I can’t move. When I size up it tends be too loose in the waist. Am I destined to getting all my blazers tailored?
