Insomniac Sale Picks: Soft but Structured Plus Size Jackets

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Cynthia requested a few picks for soft but structured plus size jackets, so here we go:

tabitha-blazer-black6585

Igigi Tabitha Blazer – was $148, now $125.80
with code WELCOME-520E2

It’s a little tough to see here, but this great black blazer has ribbing at the cuffs and pockets for a soft-but-edgy look. Designed with princess seams for a figure-skimming fit, and perfect for both office and weekend wear. Available in sizes 12 – 30. This similar style comes in XS – XL, though it lacks the ribbing detail.

Old Navy Blazer – was $49.94, now $39.95
with code SAVE

Charcoal gray is even more versatile than black in many wardrobes, and this classic blazer will work beautifully for fall and winter ensembles. It’s lined, but washable for easy care. Available in sizes 1X – 4X. Also available in XS – XXL.

Land’s End Knit Twill Herringbone Jacket – was $104, now $59.99

Woven binding and a slightly curved hem give this knit jacket an academy feel, but in this tone-on-tone red it’s a subtle detail. Sleeves are lined for easy-in, easy-out. Available in this burgundy as well as gray with black trim in sizes 14W – 26W. Size availability varies by color. This similar style comes in regular and petite sizes.

I realize that these are all blazers without a lot of shape variety. I loved this cotton moto in black or olive and this cute collarless jacket, but neither are on sale. Soft blazers are dominating right now!

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for soft but structured plus size jackets:

  1. Eloquii – Just a few options now, but check back again as we roll into fall. Love this classic doubleweave blazer.
  2. Modcloth – Great if you dig retro-influenced styles. This darling contrast-trim knit blazer comes in 1X – 4X.
  3. Lane Bryant – High points for variety of shapes and styles. This boucle jacket with ponte paneling is dynamite.
  4. Nordstrom – The best place to look for ponte blazers in any size. This tuxedo jacket is a great take on a classic style.

As someone who really struggles with the look of a blazer (I tend to feel they just make me look older rather than more polished), but needed one for my job recently, I found City Chic’s options the best around. Soft, comfy ponte, but still structured and they’ve been making a variety of styles from cropped to nipped-in waist (thank you!) to drapey. And occasionally something other than black! http://www.citychic.com.au/
