*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*
Maith requested a few picks for long cardigans that aren’t paper-thin, so here we go:
Boden Curzon Coatigan – was $198, now $99.00 – $158.40
with code 9F2G
I own this cardigan in gray, and it is both quite long and quite substantial. It’s boiled wool so nice and dense, but not super heavy or itchy. Boden calls it a “coatigan,” but I wouldn’t recommend it as outerwear in any but the warmest climates. It makes a great heavy-duty long cardigan, though. Available in this electric blue as well as gray or navy in sizes 2 – 18. Size availability varies by color. Also love the Seed Stitch Coatigan, which is a tiny bit shorter and available in limited sizes. This cardigan is lighter weight, but similar length and shape in sizes 0X – 3X.
Jones New York Drape Front Novelty Stitch Cardigan – was $89, now $24.99
Interestingly, many of the cardigans I found that were longer and thicker and made from cotton or wool had big front panel/lapels like this. No idea why, but this was among the more elegant-looking ones, and 100% cotton so cozy but also breathable. Available in this plum as well as teal or black in sizes XS – XL. Size availability varies by color. If you prefer more of a coat look, this toggle cardigan also comes in plum. This one has a similar shape in sizes 12 – 28 and this one comes in a plummy magenta in sizes 1X – 6X.
Honestly friends? Pickings were slim for cotton or wool long cardigans that didn’t look lightweight or open-weave AND were on sale. This Bean cardigan is 100% cotton, available in regular and petite sizes in six colors, and gets high marks for quality and warmth. This Land’s End cardigan is similar – and comes in regular, petite, and plus sizes – but has a pretty high acrylic content. Another great non-sale option is this Talbots marled 100% cotton open cardigan in regular, petite, and plus sizes.
Other not-currently-on-sale resources for substantial long cardigans:
- Woolovers – The silk blends are thin, but the wool blends are much thicker and heavier. This lambswool maxi cardigan is super long, but bound to be cozy and well-made.
- L.L.Bean – Bean’s cotton sweaters are reliably heavy and substantial. This Shaker-knit open-front cardigan would be great for spring.
- Jones New York – I’m impressed by this brand’s selection of thick-knit cardigans. This belted cardi comes in regular and plus sizes.
