Insomniac Sale Picks: Summer Scarves

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Brynn requested a few picks for summer scarves, so here we go:

Starfruit Linen Oblong Scarf – was $68, now $51

This is the priciest of the options for tonight, but such an irresistibly lively print! This linen/cotton blend is bound to offer breezy breathability. The scarf is 26″ x 72″ and features subtle self fringe edges.

Gauze Pom-Pom Scarf – was $39.95, now $19.99

This sheer linen/viscose blend scarf is 72″ x 36” and looks to be light as a feather. Off-white is a fabulous choice for late-summer wear, and this large scarf could also double as a wrap on cool summer nights.

Open-Weave Crinkle Scarf – was $28, now $15.99

Lightweight natural fibers are great bets for summer scarves, but open-weave fabrics are equally effective at keeping you cool. This slubby multicolor option has a little shot of neon in it. Just enough to make it feel on-trend, but not enough that it’ll scream, “highlighter yellow!” at passersby.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for summer scarves:

  1. Piperlime – Lots of breezy, lightweight options. A few are a bit on the pricey side, but many are on sale and will get marked further down in the coming weeks. This polka dot scarf is calling to me.
  2. Urban Outfitters – A few heavier iterations have crept into stock already, but this retailer still has lots of fun summer offerings in colors both bright and muted.
  3. Old Navy – I’m never drawn to ON’s cold weather scarf offerings, but their summer scarves are always so darned cute! This bird-print one is my current favorite.

Do you have scarf suggestions for those with short necks? After reading your site, I finally figured out that I’m short in all the places that make it difficult to dress stylishly – neck and torso, namely, but I also have a square face. I tend not to wear accessories (because of my neck and head), but I’m trying to move towards a more stylish wardrobe…any suggestions?

Wendy, my main thought is to choose longish scarves that can be worn draped over the neck and left untied. Pair them with V and scoopnecks so more of your clavicle is visible, too.

      Anyone else have thoughts?
