Insomniac Sale Picks: Swimwear Made in the U.S.

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Gretchen requested a few picks for swimwear that is made in the U.S., so here we go:

2. UjENA White Marilyn Tankini

UjENA White Marilyn Tankini – was $129, now $43 – $129

This brand is new to me, but proudly proclaims that all suits are made in the U.S. on the company website. This tankini features thicker supportive straps, and interior shelf bra, shirring at sides, and removable padding. UjENA suits are sized by cup size for tops A – DD, with bottom sizes S – 1X. As you can see, only certain sizes are on sale … but most options I tried were at least somewhat discounted. This suit also comes in eggplant, and other UjENA suits are on Amazon and on the company homepage.

5. L*Space Women's Wind And Sea Twister Swimsuit Top

L*Space Women’s Wind And Sea Twister Swimsuit Top – was $62, now $46.50

This fun halter top bikini has a ruched twist center and ties at neck and back. Available in sizes XS – L. Please note this is a listing for the bikini top only. You can find the matching bottom here, but it’s only available in size medium. Other L*Space swim pieces here, including some solids that would mix well with this top, all made in the U.S.

Miraclesuit Scale Models Oceanus Swimsuit – was $146, now $55.96

This brand has a bit of a shapewear bent, claiming to have a higher concentration of Lycra spandex to shape your midsection. This suit is also meant for women who wear D cup bras. Miraclesuit does some manufacturing domestically and some abroad, which is how all of their suits are listed. This particular suit is listed as “Made in United States of America or Dominican Republic.” (This was a toughie, as you can imagine!) Available in sizes 6 – 16, sold out in 10.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for swimwear that is made in the U.S.:

  1. REI – This sporty retailer has an entire category dedicated to swimwear made domestically.
  2. Tara Grinna – Expensive stuff, but gorgeous. And this company stocks cup sizes through DD.
  3. Carve Designs – Cute suits, including some reversible bikini tops.

I was just looking for Made in the USA swimsuits – it is really hard! Thanks for finding these!

  2. Jess

There are a couple of independent designers on etsy who also make their swimsuits in the USA. Especially useful for folks looking for something unique.

Ha! I just went through this myself—and ended up with two Carve Designs suits to mix and match—great quality. Title Nine carries a lot of exclusive Carve Designs swimwear, and although most is made in the US, some is made in Mexico. Athena also makes swimsuits in the US and you can find most of them on Zappos, or just do a search on Zappos for “swimwear made in USA.”

I am quite partial to Esther Williams swimwear. Its very vintage inspired but very flattering and definitely made in the USA! They have a good range of sizes and fabrics but only a few different cuts. There are a few on Amazon but more on Unique Vintage and Modcloth.
