Insomniac Sale Picks: Tall Leggings

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Amy requested a few picks for leggings in tall sizes, so here we go:

Daisy Fuentes Ponte Legging in Tall – was $48, now $28.80

So these guys clock in at 32″ which doesn’t seem super tall to me, but they ARE ankle length so I’m hoping that will still be sufficiently long in some cases. (Standard sizes are usually around 26″-28″ long.) Amy was specifically looking for thicker options, and ponte is definitely the way to go for warmth and thickness. These leggings are available in black and charcoal heather in tall sizes XS – XL.

old navy ankle zip ponte leggings

Old Navy Ankle Zip Ponte Legging in Tall – was $29.94, now $19

So Gap has a tall pair that aren’t ponte, but there are about a jillion complaints about transparency … so I’m throwing another tall ponte pair into the mix, here. This style has a cute little ankle zip in back and a slightly lower rise. Available in black and ink blue in tall sizes XS – XXL. (Old Navy also has pull-on ponte leggings in gray and black in tall sizes.)

loft marisa leggings

LOFT Tall Marisa Pintucked Legging in Ponte$69.50

You caught me – these aren’t on sale. But LOFT has sales every ten seconds, so check back tomorrow. Or Friday. You’re sure to get a discount within the week! These leggings will be comfy enough for around-the-house wear, but in seamed ponte they’ll be great for casual Fridays at the office, too. 31″ inseam for an ankle-length fit. Available in tall sizes in this heathered charcoal in XXS – XXL. Sold out in S and M. (LOFT has several other legging, ponte, and skinny fit pants in tall sizes, too.)

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for leggings in tall sizes:

  1. Long Tall Sally – 17 options including prints!
  2. Athleta – These are workout leggings, it’s true, but super cute ones. If you don’t mind breathable poly/spandex instead of cotton, there are some great tall options.
  3. JC Penney – You’ll need to do some digging as the JCP search isn’t the best, but there are options. Also, check for ponte like these knit ankle pants.

I’ve been searching high and low for ponte leggings/pants (just regular length) -but my smaller waist size and larger hip size is making finding one that fits difficult! I hate buying pants in general, and the thought of having to get leggings tailored is pretty off-putting, though I know it may need to happen. Do you have any tricks on how to determine in an online listing if the waistband is stretchy or not? (if it’s not mentioned, of course). Or do you know of brands that have this? My latest order was to 6pm for these, and if they work, I’d be ready to lay down the money for two pairs in black, brown, navy, and gray (plus maroon if they had it, sigh)

Oh Bridget, I wish I had better news. Actual listings will seldom include info like this, thought if the waistband is WIDE it will probably be a little more rigid and less stretchy. 6pm doesn’t do customer reviews, but many other places do – Zappos, Macy’s, Nordstrom, etc. Sometimes you can get info like this from customer reviews, so definitely check those.

The pairs listed tonight are all tall, but also come in non-tall sizes. Check the Old Navy ones especially – those might work!

Yeah, I’ve tried looking for reviews, and sometimes they have this information, sometimes they don’t…bummer! Thanks for responding!

I love leggings and my current favourites are from Joe Fresh. They fit my length well-I’m tall but not super tall at around 5’9.25″ but the leggings Joe Fresh put out this past fall don’t seem as good quality as the ones I bought the previous year. Isn’t that always the way!?
