Insomniac Sale Picks: Utility/Military Jackets That Aren’t Olive Green

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Tracy requested a few picks for utility/military jackets in colors other than olive, so here we go:

Eddie Bauer Adventurer Ripstop Scouting Jacket – was $99, now $69.30

Simple and sleek, but still has the rugged appeal of a military jacket. Love those angled pockets and the subtly cinched waist. Available in sizes XS – XXL, as well as petite, tall, and plus sizes! Comes in this tan as well as ivory. Size availability varies by color.

Arizona Long-sleeve Twill Anorak – was $68, now $39.99

This utility jacket has all the right bells and whistles: A drawcord waist for shaping, pockets and zippers but not too many, long but roll-up-able sleeves. It is juniors-sized, so check those size charts before ordering. Available in this navy as well as camo, olive, and burgundy (sold out online, but check JCPenney stores!) in sizes S – XL.Size availability varies by color. Also available in plus sizes. (Sorry for the tiny/blurry image – JCP is a bit behind in the image-supplying department, but you can enlarge on their site!)

Hinge Utility Jacket – was $99, now $69.90

Nordstrom describes this color as “grey,” but it looks like a slightly purple brown to me! Regardless, this classic jacket comes in three shades including a very brown “olive” and dusty navy. Available in sizes XXS – L. Size availability varies by color. This similar jacket is available in plus sizes.

Michael Kors 4-pocket Utility Anorak – was $138, now $99.90

And if you’re looking for something brighter and bolder than dusty neutrals and jewel tones, give this orange anorak a whirl. This jacket is likely to be a bit warmer and heavier than the others in tonight’s post since it’s polyester and fully lined. Available in this orange as well as navy or cobalt blue in sizes XS – XL. Size availability varies by color. This similar jacket is available in petite and plus sizes in coral or navy.

Sustainable resources for utility/military jackets in colors other than olive:

  1. eBay – This is a tough piece to find if you’re looking for organic cotton or handmade options, but eBay has hundreds of gently used jackets.
  2. The Realreal – Or check here for upscale consignment options like this teal utility jacket from Rachel Comey.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for utility/military jackets in colors other than olive:

  1. JC Penney – As evidenced above! Search term “anorak” yields the best results.
  2. Nordstrom – Search for both “utility jacket” and “anorak” and you’ll find winners like this burgundy Free People jacket.
  3. Macy’s – A few of the more colorful options are more outdoorsy than blazer-like, but other like this lightweight drawstring jacket could go either way.

Don’t know if you’ve done this recently, but would love to see insomniac sale-picks for cute raglan baseball tees (that do not feature company logos or franchise symbols). I love a baseball tee, I just don’t want to be a walking bill-board.
