Insomniac Sale Picks: Wide Calf Boots

*In this late-night feature – which will run on Tuesday and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Janice requested a few picks for wide-calf boots, so here we go:

Aerosoles Money Role – was $119.99, now $54.99

We did wide calf boots fairly recently, but we’re doing them again because NOW is the perfect time to buy up some tall boots, friends. Wintry goods are almost all on sale as retailers make way for spring items, but it is actually still winter in many places! These Aerosoles are a great and gorgeous example: Sleek styling with one buckle to toughen them up, chunky heel, 16.5″ circumference, and a fabulous price. Also in dark brown, both are faux leather. Available in US sizes 5 -12. Size availability varies by color. (Also love this high-heeled, totally unembellished style with a 18″ circumference.)

Lassen Jessop Extra Wide Calf – was $169, now $100.99

I tend to gravitate toward plain, classic tall boots because I find them to be so versatile, but most wide calf tall boots are plain and classic to the point of being a bit dull. So I was thrilled to find these, with their slightly Western styling, wrapped buckle detail, and pull tabs. Real leather and a 17″ circumference, available in this rich tan as well as chocolate brown and black. US sizes 5 -12, including some wide-width footbeds! Size availability varies by color.

Gabriella Rocha Katy Extra Wide Calf 2 – was $145, now $66.99

If you’re seeking a tall boot style without a heel, this pair is a great bet – and such an amazing price for real leather! With some hints at moto styling but a generally sleek and classic design, these will work for casual wear but could also be dressed up for the office. 19″ shaft circumference. Available in US sizes 5, 5.5, 6, 7.5, 8, and 12. This similar style is available in more sizes and colors, though it’s only 17″ wide.

Naturalizer Britain Wide Shaft – was $139, now $54.99

I haven’t seen many mid-calf styles in wide widths, and since I can’t resist an engineer style boot, I had to throw this one in. Naturalizer is a fabulous brand, and I love the design of this pair, especially that mottled finish. This boot is 10″ tall and has a 15″ circumference at the top which will likely hit below where the calf is widest. Available in this taupe and also in black in US sizes 4 – 10.5, including some wide footbed sizes. Size availability varies by color.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for wide-calf boots:

  1. Ros Hommerson – One of my favorite brands for clean, classic wide and extra wide calf tall boots.
  2. – Includes four levels of width as well as three foot widths.
  3. Footsmart – Wide calf options from several reputable brands.
  4. David Tate – Another brand for great-looking heeled and flat wide boots.
  5. DUO – Expensive, but a blogger favorite for versatile wide calf styles.

OMG DUO AND WIDE WIDTHS SHIP TO AUSTRALIA. Seriously, we have almost zero wide calf options here. Planning for winter boots begins now…

I went with Pink & Pepper’s Reggie style in both brown & black this fall. They are really comfortable and fit my 19″ calves just fine. (The shaft circumference is listed as 16.75″, but the boots have two big gussets of elastic at the back of the calf. The zipper is only half-height to give your foot room to get into the upper.) These run fairly true to size. I took a chance on ordering both colors at once, and I’m glad I did.

They have a nice shape and a low heel. The leather is thinner than I’d like, but it feels like they will last a few seasons. The brown/tan color is in the orangey cognac/tobacco brown family if the photos aren’t clear.

I just purchased a pair of DUO boots to fit my large calves after humming and hawing for a couple of years. The sale price helped offset the fact that it cost me $89.00 in taxes/duty/shipping costs. Thank goodness they fit perfectly! I love the great quality because I can occasionally find boots that fit my large calves but the quality is usually terrible and I can wear them for one or perhaps two seasons, and their walkability isn’t ideal.
I will order from DUO again in the future despite the cost.

Avenue has both wide width and wide calf boots, and extra wide width and extra wide width calf boots. They are awesome! I bought 6 pairs at the end of season clearance last year with coupons from retailmenot. I believe there are a lot on sale right now! I appreciate that have lots of styles in both heeled and flats, because I can’t walk in heels! These have been the saving grace of my long over lean winter wardrobe!

I got the most amazing boots for the first time in my life on and I have been dancing around my house like a little girl. My friend found this website and got beautiful riding boots. When she sent me a picture on my phone I assumed they would have nothing to fit me but they have boots that fit my 20″ (and even larger) calves. I had just about given up ever owning boots but I bought a wonderful pair (Trudy Super Wide Calf) in black and I will probably wear them out in my house before they even make it outside. Can you tell I am happy? I already have my eyes on another pair in a tan color. They arrived very quickly too!
