Insomniac Sale Picks: Wide-width Flats

*In this late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Riv requested a few picks for wide-width flats, so here we go:

Clarks Aldea Palm Ballet Flat – was $89.99, now $78

I do love a flower-toed flat. This darling style features cushioned, breathable soles, and a tiny 0.25″ wedge heel. Clarks is a fabulous brand for comfort, and a personal favorite of mine. Available in sizes 6 – 11 in C/D. Colors include this coral, black, and champagne leather, plus denim cloth. (From user reviews, it looks like sizing may be a bit unpredictable in wide widths. Luckily, Amazon just introduced free returns on all shoes and handbags.)

Naturalizer Tracer – was $79, now $70.99

Another great bet for comfort and quality, these Naturalizer flats would look equally lovely with a casual weekend ensemble or a smart work outfit. Available in size 6 – 10 in C width. Colors include this cognac, navy, metallic, and black (not on sale). Availability varies by color.

Naya Rapsody – was $135, now $107.99

Another option with a plush, breathable footbed. So helpful in a flat, since many styles give little to no support or cushioning. Available in sizes 6 – 10 in C width. Colors include this pink, black, tan, and metallic. Availability varies by color. Also check 6pm for a few more sizes and a slightly lower price.

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for wide-width flats:

  1. Shoes of Prey – Can’t find wide width flats that you love? For $180, you can design your own, selecting from leather, cloth, sequins, textured skins, glitter, silk, and calfhair. (It’s a lot of cash, but that price buys you revisions until your shoes are perfect for your feet.)
  2. Naturalizer – 70 pairs of flats in a variety of styles and colors.
  3. Zappos Wide Shoe Section – Several online shoe retailers have wide width sections, but Zappos has great variety and is easy to search.

How about adorable flats without toe embellishment? I only wear flat shoes, but I can’t stand things on the toes!

I would looove to see wrap dresses featured! I adore them but they always seem so expensive!

I always worry about wider width shoes, because the heel of the shoe tends to be wider, hence my own heel slips out when I walk. Argh! I’ll have to see if the Naturalizers are on Zappos; I do love being able to try stuff on at home and exchanging/returning what doesn’t fit.

And if that doesn’t help my feet while I’m at work, I’m definitely going to check out Shoes of Prey. I love customized items! Heck, if I have to pay a higher price for something I know is gonna fit me, I might as well do it! 🙂

Blowfish has a few styles that have wide toe boxes – if you look at the bottom of the soles on zappos you can see which ones are more rounded at the toe. Naturalizer in wide widths, wide Clarks, etc are all too narrow for me, because my width is all at the toe box. Blowfish shoes don’t have much support of cushioning or arch support, but insoles fit in them, and since my feet are so hard to fit, I’ll take synthetic uppers and lack of cushioning over pinchy toes any day.

A note to the big-footed: the Clarks and Naturalizer flats are generally also available in 12 W, though not everywhere.

    cute shoes!

can you do an insomniac post on skinny cords? i’m seeing denim and even colored denim all over the place, but really striking out on the corduroy. (and am realizing perhaps that’s something i’m just not going to see a lot of until fall?)
