Insomniac Sale Picks: Outdoor Accessories

*In this new late-night feature – which will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week – I’ll gather up three fun items that are currently on sale online and share them with you! I would LOVE suggestions: Stylish wide-width pumps? Classic v-necked sweaters? Chandelier earrings? Petite dress slacks? What would you like to see featured?*

Kat requested a few picks for fabulous outdoor accessories, so here we go:

Leopard-print velvet gloves – were $30, now $10.50

I’ve seen several women pairing their sleek wool coats with sassy leopard gloves, and I just adore the look. These Banana Republic ones are gorgeous and have the advantage of leather palms for easy driving, but man, $80 is a lot for gloves. The velvet option shown above won’t work for below-zero temps, but they’re perfect for less brutal weather and special occasion wear. And they’re stretchy and they’re vegan. Nice.

Club Room cashmere scarf – was $95, now $59.99

A cashmere scarf is a luxury, to be sure, but if you can budget for one it’s guaranteed to make your winter outings cozier, comfier, and warmer. There are tons of $15 “cashmere” scarves out there, but beware: Blends aren’t quite as fabulous as the real deal. These plaids and patterns are fun and chic, but you can grab this scarf in a solid, too.

San Diego Hat Company cap – was $40, now $35.99

Hats can be tricky, I know, but in cold-weather climates they’re typically a necessity. This cap is utterly charming with its asymmetric brim, oversized button, and subtle texture. It’s only 30% wool, but that might be a good thing if you’re prone to bouts of Itchy Head. (P.S. Check Audi’s post on flattering hats for tips on fit, size, and hat type.)

Other not-currently-on-sale resources for great outdoor accessories:

  1. Etsy – Hats, scarves, cowls, mittens, legwarmers, earmuffs, and other winter goodies GALORE.
  2. Jessica Simpson – With each passing season, I’m more impressed by Jess’s offerings. She’s got a darling collection of winter wear this year, including at least three hats I’d love to own.
  3. And, of course, THRIFT STORES! Depending on personal preferences you might not want to do hats, and most winter accessories should get a good cleaning before you wear ’em, of course. But you can get some real bargains, and on real cashmere scarves and leather gloves in many shops! ( can help you locate stores near you.)
