This Week I Love …

cream for keratosis pilaris

… Gold Bond Ultimate Rough & Bumpy Skin Daily Therapy Cream. (Dear Gold Bond, please shorten product name.) I first learned about this product from Beauty Bets, and bought a tub the second I finished reading her post. That means I’ve been using it since October, which I feel is ample time to gauge efficacy. And I’m giving it the thumbs up.

I’ve had keratosis pilaris on my arms since grade school, and both GPs and dermatologists have told me there’s no real cure or treatment. I’d given up years ago, and was skeptical that this cream would do much. But I figured it was worth a try, and that moisturizing my upper arms couldn’t possibly be a bad idea.

I’ve been applying almost nightly since October and noticed decreased redness and bumpiness on my arms within about three weeks. My KP is worse in summer – naturally, during the months when my arms are seen by actual other people – so it’ll be interesting to see how things progress as the weather warms. But considering the fact that nothing else has ever had any impact whatsoever, I’m impressed. There are still residual bumps now, but I can definitely see and feel improvement. Especially feel – my skin is much softer and smoother. I am not “cured,” but the difference is marked. I also used it on my alligator-esque elbows all winter and saw decent improvement in moisture and texture.

My apologies for the lack of before and after shots. I just never remember to do photos at the start of anything! But you can read many glowing reviews on Amazon that will back me up. Some of them use the word “miracle” while others had results similar to mine – good, but not miraculous. Prices seem to vary quite a bit, so definitely shop around. But here’s hoping this will help a few of you KP sufferers like it helped me!

    I’ve been using this:

It has done WONDERS for my kp– the redness has gone, the bumps are gone, I’m smooth! Even my son noticed when he hugged me one day. It showed improvement after about 2 weeks of using the product. Now I use it every other day or so, and it’s done a fantastic job. Plus, no smell, which is important to me.

Thanks SO much for this tip! I’ve had Keratosis Pilaris for as long as I can remember and have never really found something that helps…I’m so getting some of this now!

had this in my twenties – got rid of it with neem washings and brush scrubbing twice a week. and pure coconut oil for nourishing……
now in my late 40s my upper arms are carefree beauties – they still get a hard brushing from time to time – like the of my body 🙂
