Lovely Links: 5/14/10

I’m giving myself permission to rest, be imperfect, design my own life, and everything else on this list.

Some great advice on how to mix colors by intensity. With visuals!

Wild Bird Vintage created a marvelous mash-up of stripy duds.

So, how many of you participated in Dress Your Best Week? Tons. Check this list, and see how many great bloggers celebrated their best physical selves all week long. I especially adored Chelsea’s ode to her bodacious booty and Sara’s story about learning to love her breasts.

I count eighteen different equally darling outfits that Daisy Dukes created with a single pin-dot shift dress. Wowsers.

I loved Elaine’s roundup of the best MODEST looks from the FW10 Ready-to-Wear shows. Part 2 is here.

Eight darling summer hats, each under $20.

In need of some vintage eye-candy? The New York Times has collected some astonishing images of vintage finds from around the world. (Cheers, poodletail – my avid NYT-reading friend!)

Lady Smaggle isn’t freaked out about getting older. And you shouldn’t be either.

Anyone else get frustrated by retail cycles? Swimsuits in January, and wool sweaters in July? I know it makes me want to pull my hair out in large handfuls …

In addition to yesterday’s amazing guest post on the secret body image lives of fashion models, The Waves has penned an amazing piece on mirrors, perception, and how we formulate thoughts about our own bodies.

And from the Department of Random (tho this blog has certainly made the regular roundup before): Peter of Male Pattern Boldness really wants a full-time job. This vid made me happy on about 57 different levels.

I wouldn't be freaked out about getting older if I were still in my 20s. In fact, I remember that I wasn't freaked out then. But I think at this point, I'm entitled to freak out!
