Lovely Links: November 20

Une femme laments the loss of another petites store, and points out that it’s not all about hemming for women with smaller frames.

Speaking of shorties, The Demoiselles have assembles a condensed guide to stylish boots for petite women. No pun intended. I SWEAR.

Apparently, skin-whitening is all the rage in India. What a contrast to the U.S., where people put themselves at risk for cancer in the name of a great tan. Or IS it a contrast? Guess you always want what you haven’t got. (Thanks to reader Hannah for this link.)

United Nude strikes again. I’d sell my soul for a pair of those stripy booties.

Bekster believes that blue jeans are … blue. Not neutral. Do you agree?

New favorite fitness blog? Specifically this post about gym lies. (Thanks to Kat Astrophe for the suggestion.)

Any thoughts on Rent the Runway? Would you engage this service?

Lopi reveals how to remove those pesky price stickers from our shoe soles. AWESOMENESS.

The College Candy gals pick their faves from the Jimmy Choo for H&M line. And I heartily second the selection of that sequined tank.

Andrea has been dubbed a Queen of Vintage, and rightly so!

I’m SUPER jealous that Keiko Lynn got caught up in the Lloyd Dobler Mobler. What could be dreamier?

A. and S. at academichic have started a fantastic discussion on how giving clothing gender – a “boyfriend” jean or “menswear” vest – can be dangerous stuff. Check out the thoughtful comments, too. Posts here and here. And more to come, I’m sure.

Thanks so much for including me in your awesome list honey! Glad you enjoyed my sticker-removal advice. These are some irritating little suckers and the matter just had to be addressed. Peel away!

Thanks for the shoutout! I think link pages like this are the way I find most new blogs đŸ™‚

And as for jeans having a color…it really depends on the wash doesn't it? My preference is for really dark jeans – almost black in fact. They would show up somewhere between navy and black, and I think I treat them as I would any neutral. So I'd agree with your comment on her blog: jeans end up on their own, mainly neutral color range.

I haven't found any outfit that my jeans don't go with, but I have found outfits where some washes work better than others.

    Great weekend Sal!
I remove stickers using Gloo Gone product~

My best friend is half-Indian, and her great-aunt once made a comment that she was glad that she and her brothers were half-white because it meant that they were fair. I have also worked with many Indian and Pakistani women over the past two summers and OMG the stories I heard. One women once scrubbed her face so hard as a teenager,in an attempt to become more fair, that she BLED.

A great selection of links, as always! I esp. appreciate the advice on how to remove those darn price stickers from the bottom of your shoes! I always have trouble with that!

Thanks for including our discussion in the round up, there have been some really great reader comments contributing to the debate, which always makes it much more interesting. S.

  8. Serena from Style on a String

Rent the Runway makes me nervous

Renting high end stuff? A purse could be okay, but what if I rip the dress or get the top dirty?

    Too much pressure.

Style on a String ..because style has nothing to do with money.
