Not Your Basic Black

Whenever I read the words basic black, they makes no sense to me. There is nothing dull or basic about the colour. Its mysterious, edgy and sometimes bring more drama than the most vividly printed fabric. No guesses what the colour of this outfit of the day look is going to be 🙂

With 60’s and 70’s fashion trending right now, a few pussy-bow blouses and turtleneck tops were definitely in order. As a plus sized lass there are those annoying rules of what I should not wear but I’ve always liked these styles and I don’t quite like being confined by rules – so whee, look Ma, I’m wearing a turtleneck top that has stripes – double whammy! And I love how it looks on me.

What fashion rules do you break?

Here’s wishing you Happy Holidays! See you in 2016!

You look lovely. As a plus sized woman in my mid fifties, vertical stripes, skinny jeans, decollete, is pretty much all i can think of at this point. Pretty tame by most standards, but pushing the envelope in my staid little town.

      thank you 🙂
well its about dressing how you see fit, and fashion standards aren’t something I abide by so I think you’re good 😉

I’m plus-sized and 31. I love to wear tights and hose with bright patterns, colors, or fishnet. Lots of people comment “wow, your legs are bright” or “wish I could wear colored tights”. I’m not sure I’ll wear them forever, as they do seem like a youthful thing, but I’m having fun with them now.

By the way, what’s the sizing like in Forever 21 Plus? I’d like to order a few things, but afraid their 3X will be too small.

      Hi Jennifer!
I’m between a size 18-22 and order between a size 1x and 2x depending on the style of a dress, the tops fit generously as do the leggings – never had a problem with them! so give the 3x a try, they do have a size chart on the website for you to refer to as well.

Thanks, I believe I will after Christmas. I’ve been looking for a faux-fur vest and some winter dresses and they have some cute ones. I’m generally a 24/3X these days, but was worried it was junior sizing.
