My wife, Jules, thought it would make for a funny post if I wrote about the weekend we had when I wore this outfit.  But first, a bit about the outfit itself.  With this outfit, I began with the necklace.  It is a piece that I have owned for possibly about ten years but have sadly only worn it maybe a couple of times.

I really like it actually.  I love the looks, but apparently it is made of coral, which is bad in its role in promoting environmental damage, and had I known, I would not have purchased it.  Being as I already own it, there is no reason really for me to avoid wearing it.  Thus I searched through my closet and came up with this ensemble to specifically try and show off the necklace.  Overall, I think that it worked pretty well.  I think I like it better without the sweater, which is kind of funny, considering my abnormal insecurities about my totally normal arms!

Anywho … the day before I wore this Jules and I had been invited by our boss to a local ranch for a shoot off.  I figured that it would be a good time to present more male.  Most of my life I do not spend presenting as a woman, but I also don’t exactly present as male either.  Generally, I give a mixed presentation, like dressing male but having brightly painted nails.  But for this event, I decided to remove my polish and dress all male, which is kind of rare.

Went to the event and had a great time.  One part of it was when Jules and I got to try and shoot at the clay pigeons they were throwing.  She totally beat me, hitting 19 out of 25 while I hit a lowly 8!  The thing I thought was funny about it was that I was kind of bummed with myself for not presenting more male.  I wore khaki shorts with a t-shirt and a round brimmed Tilli hat.  Most everyone else was in jeans, work boots, and t-shirts they obviously had been working in all day.  So I was kind of bummed because I could have pulled that off so much better!

The day after our cowboy ranch shoot off, I was dressed in this outfit and off to get gel put back onto my nails.  I had a day off, enjoyed it, and then wanted it back!  While driving home from the salon, Jules remarked that it was such a fun weekend.  The day before we got to go shoot our guns and meet new people, the next we got to go get our nails done, and two days later we would be back together with our boss, shooting dove on his farmland, with my nails painted like this:

Life is kind of funny!

Love yourself.

Enjoy your own quirkiness!

Hi, I’m Nadine Spirit and I have been a lifelong gender non-conformer. I have always understood that I am a bit different than most but it was not until sometime in my thirties that I came to understand that I am transgender. While I spend most of my time presenting as a male I am always presenting in a gender non-conforming manner.

I started my blog, Unordinary Style, with the idea of being able to show a stylish side to those who identify as transgender. Since that time my blog has evolved into showing my personal style, discussing a wide variety of transgender topics, as well as posts about my personal life. My personal style continues to evolve as I attempt to continually push myself to pick stuff off of the racks, take it into the dressing room, and try on as much as I can. I am a firm believer in ignoring tag sizes, never paying retail prices, and due to a terrific allergy – that nickel should never be in any jewelry!
