Random Outfit Roundup: August, Part II

Cowgirl Sal rides again! This is my kinda Casual Friday outfit: A little bit dressy, a little bit funky. If it were an actual weekend, I’d probably pick a less polished-looking denim skirt … but in this iteration, I can head to the office feeling comfy, casual, and chic.

Olive green tee, American Apparel via Yque
Suede skirt, thrifted
Wood and metal necklace, thrifted
Bangle, thrifted
Strappy sandals, Dr. Scholl’s

This suede skirt got thrifted back in April, but this outfit was its wearing debut. I still adore my pencil skirts, but am drawn more and more to full skirts, so I feel that this little cutie will get plenty of wear throughout the fall and winter. I love it here with the fitted tee and chunky jewelry, but can totally see it with heavy tights and tall boots, too.

Pale pink silk cami, thrifted
Rosy sweater, Marshall’s
Khaki skirt, Gap
Fluevog Haights
Pearls, self-made

Don’t see me do the “romantic” thing much, do ya? Naturally, I had to throw on my giant, honkin’ platform sandals so I didn’t feel TOO sweet.

This sweater is by MOTH, and I snapped it up a couple of years ago when Marshall’s first started carrying Anthropologie brands. And wore it like once, since it’s not really my style. It’s more Deanna‘s style I think, and I’ll totally give it to her when we finally meet.

Additionally, the cami is too small across the boobs and has a seam right up the middle that kept shifting several inches to the right. So it looked like I had one HUUUUUGE boob, and one teensy boob. Nice. (And yes, the cami is now in the giveaway pile. Not my best color anyway …)

Gorgeous outfits! Love the silver skirt and want an obi for meeee! 🙂

I really dig the gallery outfit of the white coat black skinny pants and red shoes! I love it with the tank and wish I could have the guts to wear something like that. I am way too modest/shy to bare my arms in public. I did it once this summer the first time in many many years.

love the yellow plad top! ; ) I have the same issue with camis and tops with any kind of line through the bust- so I avoid buying that type ; )

  4. Cupcakes and Cashmere

these are all great…but i'm most inspired by that cowgirl ensemble. it's so cute and i need a shirt like that for fall!

Hi Sweet Sal – first of all, the overdyed skirt totally rules! It turned out awesome. (BTW, I bought the dye but have yet to do the tunic – I'll keep you posted).

Second – LOVE The Mexican Shop and the belt is awesome.

Third – Kork Ease…yeah, I feel that. They ARE that awesome.

And you look adorable, as always.

    Hi Sal,
I am delurking to praise your turquoise obi and maroon pairing — just lovely!

I love your blog, the premise is wonderful and I enjoy the mix of substantial/meaty discussion posts and fashion eye candy. Keep up the good work!

  8. Nadine

I love all of them but I think the third one is my favourite :).

  9. lisa

Great outfits! I particularly love the yellow and green plaid (sooo cheerful), your ensemble for HM's event, and the turquoise obi. And it's crazy how the dye jobs made the skirt such a pretty shade of silver!

  10. Make Do Style

I love the second outfit on you – truly you!

I like the bravado of 4 and 5 and you really strut it well!

  11. metscan

Wow, so many outfits. Is husband Mike taking the pictures? I especially liked the long black skirt and the black high heels on you. Suddenly this length looks so fresh!

  12. Kacie

Fun! What if you did the maroon top with the obi (new word and concept to me…hope I'm using that right!) with your overdyed grey skirt?

And maybe a bolero. Or maybe just bare those arms while it's still warm enough to.

  13. chic

I am secretly coveting your shoe collection. So many that I would love to steal/borrow! I love the gallery opening outfit. Red, black and white always looks so chic. And I LOVE your wide leg jeans. I'm a shorty and I've been looking forever for a pair for myself…I guess I could just go to a tailor. 🙂

  17. K.Line

So many lovely looks. I'm partial to the gallery lady red shoe one – very California! You really wear everything, Sal. I realize that I couldn't pull together one of these posts to save my life because I just don't look that different every day. Hmmm, maybe I gotta get on that!

  18. Vanessa

The second outfit is one of my favorites of yours ever! You look great, and it's an outfit that just about anyone can wear and look amazing.

  19. Spandexpony

  21. Rosie Unknown

You look amazing! In all of the outfits!

I was out shopping the other day, and I kept seeing shoes that reminded me of you.

  22. FashionAddict

I love love love the silver ebay skirt! Can you give instructions as to how you dyed it? You look fantastic in all these outfits.

  23. futurelint

Loving the cowboy Sal outfit and your green/brown outfit makes me excited for fall! How brave to try to dye silk and it turned out fabulous! Congrats to HM on the photos!

  24. Nadine

Oooh, Cowgirl Sal! <3! My imaginary self really wants pencil skirts, especially denim ones, but my real self does not lead a pencil-skirt kind of life. I also LOVE the olive&suede look – so gorgeous! (My imaginary self looks great in those colours.)

  25. ambika

Oh, seams across the front are evil. But the outfit looks lovely & adore those shoes.
