Recomended Reading: Corporette

I’m a relatively adventurous dresser. I cheerily wear my leather pants and floor-length taffeta skirts to work, and no one bats an eye. But I know full well that many of you either cannot do the same, or would not do the same. Even at gunpoint.

And if you’re on the more conservative side of the dressing fence – either for reasons of personal taste or professional requirement – you really must dig into Corporette. With daily deals on gorgeous workwear, posts specific to lawyerly dressing (Will Flats Fly in Court?), and a Suit of the Week feature, this blog is a one-stop for women who live in pumps and pencil skirts.

As a soon to be lawyer (graduating in less than a month!), I love Corporette. I worked at a bank before law school, so I have a good idea of what is and isn't appropriate for a more conservative work environment, but I can always use more advice and suggestions. I also enjoy their weekly roundup post, which are usually relevant to corporate or legal careers.

I've been reading corporette for about 2 years now and I love it. The open threads are great for getting and giving advice and most of the advice throughout the site is relevant to most people.

Ok, I am so not corporate, but I am very intriqued by the idea of what is ok or not in the corpoate world. I've always felt that corporate wear for women and the implication of certain choices would make a great dissertation…

Thank you for those links! I work in an office, and although I am in love with fashion, my office is fairly conservative, so I have to be careful in what I wear. I'm always looking for inspiration and advice when it comes to office wear.
