We Are the Real Deal has evolved over the years, but its current iteration is just as rich and insightful as ever. This site offers resources for addiction, body image, heath at every size, LGBT topics, nutrition, self-esteem, and wellness. Contributors from all walks of life provide a huge variety of voices and opinions to a fascinating mix. Part of the site’s mission statement reads, “We are united on a single cause: Cultivating self-esteem and positive body image for all. Men. Women. Boys. Girls. We don’t agree on all issues, but we respect each others’ perspective. We speak our personal truth, and we want to listen to you.” Can ya see why I’m a fan?

    “Cultivating self-esteem and positive body image for all. ”

    Self esteem comes from mastery, not from thinking. If you act a certain way, you will develop your own sense of worth. It’s not enough to just think the “right” way about something. Certainly negative thoughts about yourself are not helpful nor productive, but one gains self esteem through learning and most importantly–doing.
