I wore this to check out a fabulous art installation called Playing the Building. The project was the brainchild of David Byrne – a personal hero of mine – and has traveled from Stockholm to London to New York and now to Minneapolis. Essentially, Byrne hooks a vintage organ up to the pipes and structure of a building and the public can play the organ, and therefore the building. I wore this to be a guest judge at the Express Yourself Thrift Store Trunk Show last Friday night. (Check out the Express Yourself mission!) Design students from St. Kate’s choose items from the store and repurpose them, the designs are entered in a contest, and all designs are for sale. It was such fun to see how the designers used their materials and creativity to create entirely new looks. read more

This leather midi has been waiting patiently in my closet since spring. It’s an Etsy purchase from long, long ago and much as I adore it, it has limited application.
