We’ve had a marvelously long spring this year, and truly warm weather is only just starting to settle in. This outfit is from a cool day last week, but theĀ scarf I’m wearing is made from whisper-weight silk that will work well into the hot summer months. I still don’t know how silk can keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. My first guess is “magic,” but it’s probably something slightly more scientific …

I don’t know – this screams fall to me. It’s too dark and heavy for spring in my honest opinion. Maybe if you added some bright coral or teal (both really hot right now, right?!?) or even some pink or baby blue. Or what about some lighter summer sandals plus a pair of shorts or a skirt? I just don’t see how a single brown silk scarf makes this spring like? I’m really interested because I’m a blonde and don’t wear brown hardly at all, except with shoes, and I just fail to see spring here…

Silk or not, I do not find scarves comfortable in the summer. I switch to necklaces. I move to dark colored cottons, then silk then heavier late fall garments after Labor Day. Once the days start getting shorter darker cottons and browns feel appropriate.

Hey Sally, love this look. The scarf ties everything together really well. Your hair looks great here, can I ask what you used to make your bangs swoop over like that? Been trying that iwth my own hair lately but it hasn’t been working.
